I have a 98 S1 with 63000 miles on it.I just bought some nice used xb9 pistons on ebay with cylinders and new rings for $70. shipped, that look like new. I will get xb12 heads next.Since I have so many miles on the bike the question is are the cylinders xb9-S1 the same so I can use the low mile xb9s with pistons?I see there are some small differences on the outside.

The 9 and 12 heads are the same. The 9 and 12 pistons are different.

XB heads/cyls will bolt on to the S1 bottom end. As a side bennie for the swap, the extra cooling fin area is a blessing hanging out in the wind.
