my engine man light has started to come on from time to time if i stop and turn off the bike the light wont come back on some times i get 40 miles with no prob but sometimes the light is back on in 2 miles

the buell bible states that if you leave the ignition on and dont start the bike the engine light will flash to show their is a stored fault but its not flashing

any ideas
i was knocked off not tht long ago could that have messed with a sensor?

Put a jumper wire from pin 1 to pin 2 in the data link connector under the seat. The light will flash 6 times rapidly, then a 2 sec pause, then the fault code.

Given the recent "incident", I'd look for a loose connection/rubbed wire in whatever system the fault code indicates.
