I just noticed one of the hinges on my S3T bag is broken and half of it is missing. Does anyone know where I can find one? Does anyone stock these or do I have to beg for one on the "classifieds" board?

I forgot to add .... all I need is the half that mounts to the case itself not the part on the bag.

Keep in mind the hinge design changed in 1999.

I just got the hinge, female s/bag, the half which goes on the lid of a '99 S3T bag from my Buell dealer - p/n 00700M @ $4.00 ea.

and yes, the earlier hinge is a different design - for both halves, and is in a slightly different position - different holes.

Oh yeah, the bike is an 2002. Thanx, for checking Dark_horse ... and I'll call the stealer tomorrow and see if they have anything. I mistakenly put "not he part on the bag" in my previous post .... I meant not the part on the lid.

They are stock and should be easy to get. If you need a part number let me know. I have boxes of them buried somewhere the days of the "bag kit ranger" riding about the country fixing S3 bags But I **think** they may have been the prior design.

If you have any problem the folks at Buell Customer Service should be able to get them for you within 48 hours.

That is totally cool that the dealer can get them. Give Sonny a hug (one of those guy type hugs) for me!

Any problems . . . let me know . . . I know where there might be a case of spares.

Parts

Hey . . . old timers . . . for bonus points identify the 3 parts in that box that have never been seen.

A comparison of the old and new hinges. On the left was the hinges from the 99 S3. The right has the newer style hinges.

My S3T is a 2001, but it has hinges like the one on the LEFT.

EDIT: OK - I'm ok now...

I dough seriously that your bikes are all wrong. Sounds like I was given bad information. Stephen do you have a parts book for you 97? If so does it reflect your style hinge? Sorry for any bad information.

Not to jack the thread - but how much are new inners anyways?

I was looking at a set of Givi Monolock cases (Cheap!) yesterday at TwistedThrottle and trying to figure out how difficult it would be to graft the givi winglock brackets onto the S3T's stock luggage rack...

Has anything like that been done?

Sorry, no parts book for my 97 S3T and the book I have for my 97 S1 doesn't help either. I wasn't the first owner on the S3T so I can't say if the bags are original.

I've owned a '98 and a '99. The hinges are different. I'll agree that either Bad_Karma was given bad info or you've got a '99 that used leftover '98 parts. I've owned more bizarre parts problems...
