So, how do I make my X1 run and sound less like an anemic tractor and more like the S3T I used to have? Of course the S3T was wearing D&D exhaust... Just not feeling it after saddle time in the S3T. |

Same engine as a S3T; just repeat the recipe. |

My X1 wears a BMC race exhaust, race ecm and hamcan intake...........sounds in no way like an anemic tractor. (to me anyhow) |

I think I'll go with the Vance & Hines. Sort of a compromise between power/noise. ...but should I leave the stock intake? The S3T was wearing one of these as well. http://www.hellrisercustoms.com/review.php?prod_gr oup=14&item_no=9300&ref=google_base Don't want to mess with the stock look though. |

Old_mil, I have a D&D slip on on my X1 and I love it. Steel construction and deep loud sound. I'd also reccommend a Race ECM and if you want to keep the stock look - I'd suggest a K&N filter with the airbox hogged out. I can post a pic of mine if you wish. |

That would be great...I like the D&D pipe, but with more places starting to crack down on loud pipes, I'm thinking maybe the Vance and Hines will be a way out of a ticket someday. |

My recipe: "daytona boss" muffler, race ECU, forcewinder intake. The daytona boss muffler hasn't been available for several years but the V&H would work fine. My only gripe is that you have to remove the V&H to let the tranny juice out. I highly recommend the forcewinder due to its ease of servicing. |

Is there any intake that can be mounted without removing the "ugly plastic"? |

"My only gripe is that you have to remove the V&H to let the tranny juice out." I used to gripe about that before I saw how the V&H can actually keep the plug from falling 'out'... if it gets loose. That's a feature, not a problem... now. |

Carefull Grov, ugly is with the beholders opinion(my plastic is beautiful and rubinesque). The Supertrapp is, in my opinion the best of both worlds. |

Justforfun: that is why I used the " " ;) I don't think it is ugly myself, but it seems most people do |

Good to know you don't consider the O/E look to be ugly, it's one of the things that endeared me to the bike initially. I think your bike is great looking ,loved your pics on other threads. The Mikuni 42 is such a great performer, but I don't know for sure about compatibility w plastics, I'm sure it can be done but not sure of the mods. There are so many other wonderful fab artists on this site who should be able to help. |

Fun: Grovs quoted me, my plastic is being slowly changed out for CF some folks like the scoop and the suitcase, I dont to ME its Fugly and it hides that serious motor and ruins the lines of the bike. That being said the fender and hugger are ok. |

Yeah it sure hides the motor, which is sad. But I think it makes the bike look beefier overall and less Sportster:y To each his own Justforfun: Glad you like my bike =) |
