I tried the Bartells alloy inserts several years ago and took them out after a 20 minute ride because of the vibration.

It's a gimmick. The internal "area" on the factory isolator is a steel cylinder with a flat base that retains the whole thing to the swingarm block. These fit inside that, and are supposed to "reinforce" that cylinder.

Here's what the steel part of a stock isolator looks like with out the the rubber on it (Later isolators had the fail-safe lip on them):

These inserts go where the red arrow points, and they don't really "do" anything. They don't prevent deflection of the existing steel sleeve (No load transfers through it), they don't affect the rubber part, and so, they do nothing.

Just bought a pair from American Sport Bike will put them on and evaluate. I'm open to try these because the factory engineering doesn't always hold up. In all fairness to engineers they are given a set of conditions/constraints they have to meet ie. compromises must be made. Just read this board and look at the update parts that are continually being introduced for our bikes.

If you want your BUELL to VIBRATE like a NON-RUBBER MOUNTED "SPORTSTER" , just put them in ... What "i" used them for was so "i" could pack my wife double until the later RIGHT and LEFT isolators came out ...

They were a result of the early Rear isolators not holding up on the BUELL RACE platforms(plus riding DOUBLE) ... Which were PN 47564-86 off the SOFT-TAIL "BIG TWIN" platform ...
They are now PN 47564-86B the last time "i" checked ...

What you want is RIGHT(PN L050.9R) and LEFT(Lo5o4.9L) ISOLATORS ...
