anybody running a custom intake of any kind? how do maliair style filters work on buells? has anybody used a metal velocity ring and clamped a filter to it straight off the side of the bike? Let me know any custom setups you have seen or are running. i just got a HBBI carbon intake and it is just too big for my X1. dont worry about the IAT sensor, im sure i can drill a hole in almost any intake to put it in with a grommet. |

Some 'custom' ("home-made") intakes were pictured while back. Somebody used a pvc pipe elbow, somebody else used a vacuum cleaner hose or similar. Can't find the pictures. I'm sure there are velocity stacks you can just bolt on that stick out straight to the right. See this discussion thread before. http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/316641.html?1194453029 (Message edited by jayvee on April 09, 2008) |

i wouldnt really bother with a velocity stack for the street. Even if you put a really big filter on it, you would be better off getting the cf hamcan race cleaner. For it to flow enough air and filter enough, it has to be a big filter, and a filter on a velocity stack is either going to a) filter very little (ever notice at night how much dirt and crap is kicked up behind a vehicle, you dont want that injested in your engine. Or b) filter well enough that your bike doesnt have sufficient air going to it. For the drag strip its a great setup though.. |

"First Choice" Aerocharger system. They made variable vane turbo systems for Harley' & Buells. Upstate NY. No longer in business, unfortunately. HP approx. doubled on boost. Almost a third as fast as a 600 Japanese sportbike! AL |
