Well, the Buell magic worked. I just went in to my local dealer pick up a free neck gaiter and I happened to stop and look at the 1125 R.

Then I sat on it. It fit like a glove - and I am a tall rider!! It looks 100% better in person than in photos and it exudes quality in every detail!

Now the big question: I have two Buells, a 2002 M2 and a 2001 S3T.

The S3T has just 2,000 miles on it and has been pampered since new. Has optional PM wheels, a Race Header and Muffler, Carbon Fiber Air Filter, etc. The M2 is a Low with a Race Kit Header and Muffler. It has more miles.

I definitely will have to sell one of them if I want to but a new 1125 and I am wondering what would be better:
1. Trade at the dealer,
2. Selling my S3T outright with the extras
3. Returning it to stock and then selling the "goodies" separately, or ?.

This is not really the best time to buy a new 1125 because money is tight right now but that thing is just so cool that I don't know how I can resist.

Any advice? How much do you think I might get from the dealer vs a private party.

(I didn't want to start talking $ with the dealer until I am a serious buyer)

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Well, if you're not sure you're serious yet, for god's sake DO NOT RIDE THE 1125R!!!

Of course, to play devils' advocate...if you want an excuse to "need" the bike, take it for a test ride.

Just bring your checkbook and the title for your trade.

Keep the S3 sale the M2 if you can't get the wife a second job or mandatory overtime.

when i first saw the 1125 in a mag, i just knew i had to have one... sort of like when i first saw the v-rod... last week when i went to buy a new buell, they had an 1125 on the floor at a good price....i bought the xb instead... but to each his own.. i wanted something to complement my tuber that was pretty much maintainance free and the new xb is that bike...
yesterday i took the s-3 for a ride and realized how cool a bike it really is...

Werewulf,

You are right about that.

I was in my garage yesterday working on little stuff and reflecting on the possibility of selling my S3T for a new bike - and I came back to reality.

The S3T is much better suited to the riding I actually do (as opposed to high-speed fantasy and daydreams)than the 1125.

Also, I am just getting to know it and, best of all, my wife likes it because it is comfortable for her as a passenger.

So, all is well at our house. No new bikes until I can afford it. And the S3T is a keeper.

I must admit that the HD/Buell dealer has a way of making me want a new bike and the 1125 could be the one - when the time comes.

Boy, that was a close call!

Later,

Dave
