Hi,
For some reason the red engine light is going on and off intermittently just off idle, and when rpm drops to about 2,500. THE BIKE RUNS GREAT, no problems. Stays on for 5-8 seconds, then goes away on acceleration. Comes on at freeway speeds, then goes away. }The battery is getting charged. Will check for error codes, but just put on new TPS and did not find any codes. Any ideas?
Will try new O2 sensor I have on hand.
Wanting to ride bike to March Badness!

Look in the historical codes for a possible clue to the problem. Otherwise check out the harness under the tank for rubbing and such. check/clean the connectors for the voltage regulator, the O2 sensor, the engine temp (center of rear head), IAT, etc. Bound to be something loose or corroded if it goes away that fast.

Dudes, problem solved! Was bad O2 sensor in the air box. Glad I had a spare on hand, made the idle come back better, runs cooler, and stronger. (Have oil temp guage where clock used to be in the dash)

Thanks!
Next on to March Badness!!

Hey, I found the real problem. One of the wires leading into the plug for the IAT was bend at a funny angle, and yes broken inside. This was causing the short, and error code I was getting. The sensor was fine. So, was able to solder the remaining wire together, looks cured.
Thanks!
