Anyone try a first gear ratio set of 2.37 vs. the stock 2.61? I like the thought of having a 1st gear to take to a higher speed, but I'm not sure if this 2.37 gear set would cause problems with hill starts or doing slow u-turns. Any input would be welcome.

Thanks.

I personally like a shorter first gear. I have the Baker Six speed in my S3 and have the stock five speed in my S1 with taller final gearing 26/55. In traffic and slow speed maneuvering I'm not slipping the clutch as much on the S3. On tight twisty road the longer first of the S1 lets me shift less. Just my preference.

I've had it in my RS for 9-10 years. It closes the gap between 1st and 2nd nicely.
