Just to keep in touch. A while back I had my Quicksilver carb rebuilt and updated by Edelbrock. They did a great job and the bike has run like a champ for a couple of years now. About a week ago I came back from a 100 mile trip and heard popping on deceleration. I figured it was intake seals. When I got about 10 feet from my house the bile died and would'nt start. Tried reserve etc, no joy. I pushed it in to my garage and tried again the next morning. On choke it started right up but would'nt run with the choke pushed in. I removed the air cleaner and NO carb needle, GONE. Pulled the carb apart and found the needle in the bottom of the carb. The pressed on coller for the needle had vibrated off due to a missing intake manifold bolt.
I checked the seals, they are good (replaced em anyway) and am waiting for a new needle. Edelbrock said they had never heard of such a thing. Who knows, lucky it died at my house. Buell S2, always an adventure!

Am I the only one running a Quicksilver carb?

I had the same thing happen, the damn 2 piece needle comes apart and it took me quite some time to figure out the needle was not moving. Nice to see some one still using the QS. I just did 2 of them on our shop Ural. Had everyone puzzled,no sweat for a Quiksilver vet.
