I have an opportunity to purchase a '99 X1 very cheap. The bike is in poor shape. Spray can paint job, S3 fairing mounted, butchered wiring harness connecting the headlight & turn signals. needs tires, brakes, etc, etc... It does have a few things I'd swap off, a Works rear shock, billet pegs... 1st - I already have a a perfectly good '99 X1 which I ride almost daily. 2 - I'm not really mechanically inclined so rebuilding it myself is out. 3 - I know I could make $$ if I put in the time & effort to part it out. I don't really have the time, and cringe every time another tuber gets cut up. So, I guess what I'm asking is -- in today's soft market, what would such a bike sell for? Not looking to make a lot of money on it, but would be nice to make enough to take my SO out for a nice dinner. | ||

Buy it, swap out the parts you want, and resell it as-is. You can probably break even on the cash and get some parts you want for free. | ||

It probably wouldn't take too much effort to turn it around. You already have an example to copy, right? You could make it like the evil twin of you current bike. |
