i have a 96 s1 w/ 15k on the clock. i noticed some a couple of things, like i have braided steel brake front and back lines...were those stock? also the guy i bought it from weighed about 160, and im 220. do i need to change the suspension settings? if so, what is involved...pics of the changes would be great, ie, i noticed on the shock it has an s-h setting set at s, which i assume is soft/ hard..is it just a matter of turning the lever? thanks in advance, dan | ||

IIRC the lines are stock. I know they were on my 98 S1W and on my 95 S2, pretty sure they were on all Buells but for some reason there's a little voice saying "some came with rubber lines". There are clicks of adjustment between soft and hard. Turn in gently until it stops; that's your top setting (I'm guessing hard; soft should be the "out" position). Count as you turn so you can put it back. If you like the way it handles, leave it be. If it's bottoming out or wallowing in turns, firm it up a click at a time until you get it where you want. Your front and rear suspensions are both adjustable, for both compression and rebound; you can also adjust the rear for spring preload (body weight). If you have a dealer nearby, order yourself an owners manual. They're cheap enough ($20 I think) and have a whole section on suspension theory, troubleshooting, and adjustment. I also recommend a shop manual, but that's up to you and your comfort level when it comes to wrenching. | ||

one more question, i have billet pegs, but they dont have a spring on them....is it possible to put a spring on them? if so parts numbers? | ||

I just did that on my S1W. There's a thread somewhere on here, maybe in the KV, about the X1 peg upgrade. Basically you're getting the pivot pins, springs, and clips to replace your bolts and nylock nuts. If my addled brain remembers tomorrow at work I'll pull the part numbers for you. | ||

IIRC all the rear lines were rubber,all of my S-2's were and the S-1W was. | ||
