I plan to use a race header from a 2001 X-1 on my M 2.

I will need to plug the 02 sensor hole and I am looking for suggestions for the neatest way to do it. ie short bolt, drain plug with correct thread, purpose made part, etc.

Also, does anyone know what size thread is on the O2 bung?

Recommendations?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Drain plug size M18 x 1.5 works perfectly...and you can find it at any auto parts store for about $2.50.

I've used the sensor in the past. Install, use a cutoff wheel to lop off the electrical end, and it's relatively flush. Some JB-Weld smeared on top gives it a "finished" look if you don't want to see an amputated piece of ceramic : )

As for thread pitch/size, its a standard automotive size, so if you go to Autostoned or something similar you should be able to find the info. Or check summit racing or jeg's, they may have actual plugs available.

Any exhaust shop should have a nice plug for that, too, if you can't find a drain plug.

The ones I found were steel, $1.00 apiece.

Thanks for the replies and info.

Now, I'm off to the auto parts store for a plug.

Regards,

Dave

Well, Auto Zone had one for $2.23.

Installed the new X-1 Race Header and Race Muffler on my M2 this afternoon and all is well.

Thanks again,

Dave
