since im in the market to buy tubers, i ran some part numbers thru zanottis website to see availability... 3 out of 4 tuber part numbers are not available... so if i buy a tuber (i put a deposit on an m-2 today) what parts are going to be hard to find... i will need to start hoarding some away...

If you got your parts out of the parts catalog then many of the part numbers have been superseded and even those new ones have been superseded too.

I just bought a 2000 X1 piece of sh*t off of the classifieds here. Sorry for the profanity but this thing has so many things wrong with it that were never mentioned and the things that were supposedly done weren't!

Anyways, so far I have found every part I need on ebay or at the dealer and I find myself having to replace more and more stuff the deeper I tear into this bike.

Well at least I have a project bike so my poor sporty can be left alone for a while : )

just go to the dealer and have them look it up for you, you can get most parts for it still.

I've been rebuilding a S3 over the last year and have no problem getting any part from the dealer. Now service is another thing.

yeah bobo, bad thing about buying something used, you never know what your gonna get. buy the time the dealer got done with my motor, i could have dropped a new stock motor in it and then do some additional work to it. but who knew. just as it lasts me for a while, i'll be happy. i got the bike that i wanted. good luck on yours.

and were, i'm sure if you look hard enough, you will find what you need. look at these guys who keep there s1's and s2's not to mention the older ones going. as long as this web site is around, you'll always find what you need sooner or later.

Hey, I would suggest getting a couple of slip-on mufflers. I like the Supertrapp and the Vance Hines.....I had a couple mounts fracture on the pipe (more due to some incorrect mounting on my part I think!) You can find some good deals on a used slip on pipes, worth having a spare if one breaks. I had a couple welded up so I can use again.
Depending on how you ride, suggest a good used shock as spare, or upgrade in the future.
Rock on and good luck!

I've got an S2 and can find just about anything mechanical new. Bodywork is discontinued...but that's what ebay is for.

If you need parts, PM me and I'll get you current part numbers. I work for a dealer, I'll be happy to look them up and/or order 'em for you : )

>>>Bodywork is discontinued

Somebody better tell Buell. They, in the last year, have opened a new facility specifically for that purpose.

I am aware of darn few things that can not be ordered.

I've found parts are easy to come by. However, some of the pretty add-on pieces take some phone calls. When Daves was running the show in Appleton, he had to look pretty hard for a few things.

Court, Can you now get painted body work for the S2? I tried to get a piece in 99' for my S2 and they said that the Candy Carribean Blue was no longer available. I've been getting my body work from Airtech.

As long as there are people like 78758 who chastise people for parting out bikes nobody's gonna want to advertise on this site. But thats where the parts are, and buy the way lots of parts are not even available from H-D although there is a part # it is simply not there. Not to worry the aftermarket is always ready to fix you up with parts at three times the cost! These old bikes are cool Bobo but the agony is so harsh trying to clean them up. Good luck and welcome to the family.

Chris,
The reason the painted versions are not available is probably because the paint itself isn't available.
Sikkins reformulated thir paints in 1999 and there is no cross reference from old paint codes to the new ones.
I spent LOTS of time on the phone with Sikkins USA and finally found someone who had first hand info.
That was two years ago.

Brad, thanks for the info. I though it was something like that. When Court said they had open a new facility to address these issues. I thought that would be pretty cool. I'd pay for painted body work if it's reasonable. I was going to try and match it to an rm paint or ppg or something simialar.

Court - that's very good information. I just re-checked some S2 bodywork part numbers and they now have superseded numbers and show as available : )

Too bad about inflation, though. LOL.

Thanks! Maybe now I'll have to get that bare S2 frame, and build my own...
