Hello all,

I'm new to badweb and in fact, new to Buell all together. I was actually supposed to pick up my 1997 M2 Cyclone today, but it is -45 degrees with the windchill here in Green Bay, and trailering the bike today didn't seem like such a good idea. Or leaving the house for any reason for that matter.

Anyways, on to my question. I love the M2 and all "naked" style motorcycles for their old school looks and design simplicity. However, I've always felt that there should be a small body panel or rollpan on the bottom of the bike, that could be painted to match the tank and tail section. Nothing gaudy, just a nice accent. Such as on the '99 X1.

A year or so ago, before I bought the Buell, I looked into Ducati Monsters. I looked for the same type of fiberglass parts, (I believe they referred to it as a lower cowl, or roll pan, I can't really find a universal term for the part), and I was able to find a plethora or parts. However I can't find a thing for the M2. Perhaps it would help If I knew the actual name of the part, lol. I'm another one of these guys moving from the muscle car building world into motorcycles, and the terminology is all new to me.

So does anyone know of a company that makes after market fiberglass parts like the one's I'm looking for? Or is there a part from another Buell model I can modify to fit? I work at a company that builds yachts, so I have access to tools and materials for working with fiberglass, however I still need some sort of starting point if I am to custom build a part.

Well thanks for taking the time to read my lengthy post, it's a bad habit that can't be broken...lol. I look forward to a summer of "Buelling" and posting on Badweb, even in the arctic chill of today.

An X1 chin fairing will bolt up on your M2 and give you the look you are wanting.

As Grancuda said .. the X1 chin fairing will fit and look nice - I have one on my 99 M2...

Another option, if you can find one, either in the BadWeb classifieds or E-bay on occasion, a Buell race belly pan for the tube frame family will also look nice and IMO looks better on the 'skinnier' Buells (97-98 M2 or any of the S1's) - I have one on my 97 S1 and it is a perfect fit for the bike.

Bolts right up...Let me know if you are looking for one...I think I still have a brand new (still in the box) black chin fairing I never used.

Thanks for the help. The guy I bought the bike from does auto body work and offered to throw in a paint job as part of the deal, (tank bra caused uneven fading). Might as well get everything painted right away.

Devdawg, I'll let you know soon if I'm interested in the chin fairing. Since it's finally warming up slightly (now its only about 9 degrees), I'm picking up the bike friday and then I'll decide what I'm going to do.

I found a picture of an M2 almost identical to mine and photoshopped the chin fairing onto it (just a quick job). It looks pretty nice. It adds just enough color. Speaking of which I still need to decide on a color... damn decisions...lol.

That is a XB_R front fairing...

Actually, really simple to make work...

If I could just find a Carbon Fiber one for my X1...(that isnt 700 bucks)
