I have a 96 s1 with a kooks header and a D&D slip on. Twice the brackets have snapped off. I call D&D and after 4 days of calling they tell me sorry for your luck but we quit making that particular muffler cuz of that exact reason.(brackets snapping) So i asked what can You do for me and he says sorry nothing I can do. So be cautious of D&D products

Could you post pics of the failure?

Be cautious of what? That D&D quit making your 12 year old pipe? Seems outlandish to assume any manufacturer will warranty a product that old. Your bike is almost an antique, get used to things breaking, regardless of how well you may take care of them. Nothing lasts forever. Have you considered just buying a new pipe?

I love my D&D exhaust!

What exactly were you hoping they could do for you since they stopped making the pipe some time ago?

My D&D is great. I have found the company's service to be quite good. Sorry your experience has not been the same.

Engineer your own better system and ask a muffler shop to fab it for you... just a thought.

The newer D&D's are nothing like the old ones.
There was a reason they changed them...

The D&D full system is great. Fit is great and the sound is incredible. When I bought my M2, the pipes kept coming loose from the heads. When I pulled them, the knucklehead before me put the OEM tapered gaskets in there when they need to use the SE flat gaskets. It caused the pipes to be misaligned and never could be torqued down correctly. Now it's perfect.

Sounds like your old muffler broke and you need a new one. There are many quality mufflers to choose from. Whatever you buy, it will have a better fit and finish. I'd check the warranty on your new muffler so you know where you stand if it breaks.

guys i absolutley love the sound and the performance of my D@D. The muffler is only 2 yrs old. Thats the problem i have with D&D. They sold to me brand new 2 years ago. Should i have done my homework? yes. I am not trying to get something for nothing i am trying to get good customer service. Anyways i had the muffler reengineered by a body of mine and it will be bettter than what they were able to design.

Was the muffler out of warranty? Try getting you computer or television replaced or repaired after it is out of warranty?

I'd be pissed too if it were only 2 years old. If it is consistently breaking though Brian, is something not aligned properly? That said, if they discontinued that model number, seems as though they had a problem that they should back up, particularly if they are selling another one for that model bike. I know, I know, good luck.

Ohio... Please, post some pics of the muffler in question, the VENDOR, etc...

Does it look like this?

IF not, you have aquired a very outdated model..

Just wondering, because, I had my D&D slip on for... while... HARD use, it had been used as a skid plate on a curb, etc... trust me, when I say something been used hard.. I mean it..

The current D&D full system, same thing. I stick with D&D because they are bulletproof...

More importantly, they are CHASE proof..

So, please a pic(the more the better)... lets see what we can do..

Also, who you bought it from.. the vendor..

The early Force Pipes had the same problems. Check to see if the D&D had the same OD. You may be able to use the upgraded Force brackets. If not, go the auto parts store and improvise

My only problem wit D&D is the mid pipe rusting. I got a new one and sand blasted the paint off then used 1200 degree ceramic paint. No rust.

The stock stystem is the way to go if you need something more durable, but even these have had problems. I think every aftermarket exhaust system out there, whether a full system or just the can has had problems with brackets cracking... even the Buell factory race kit exhaust. It certainly isn't limited to just D&D mufflers.
