OK.....its starting to happen! One latch on my 2002 S3T bag wont open now...I read the posts about drilling a small hole by the latch hinge, to get it open. Any other tips or suggestions? Can the latch be repaired or have to replace it?
Thanks!

I drilled out the safety torx and replaced the warn linkage. You may or may not be able to fix it. But last year Buell had all the latch hardware for my 99 S3 bags.

Just snake in a L-shaped hanger and twist it to trip the latch. May need to look at the working one to get an idea as to how it's tripped.

 drilled latch
It will probably need to be replaced unless you find a way to reattach the 'arm'.

OK..I drilled the hole and was able to pop my bag open. The mechanism that springs the bags open is very weak, looks like its made of low quality metal.
Is there an upgraded latch assembly I can fit, or any other fix (excepting replacing with the same unit, which I am sure will eventually fail again)
Thanks!

If you're referring to the arm that triggers everything to release (and what I believe snapped) reminded me of pot metal -- not sure if that's what it could be classified as. I don't think Buell changed or upgraded it. Also not sure if the current latch could be repaired, but I guess it depends on how determined you are to weld something up. You're probably better off just getting a replacement (without lock); not expensive IIRC.

btw, just spent the past couple of days re-geocoding about 590,000 MLS properties in your fair City. Off to check on Las Vegas... adios

Hi, thanks for your reply. I would not mind getting replacements without the locks. What is IIRC?
Thanks!

obscure internet shorthand for If_I_Recall_Correctly. Had to Google it when I originally saw it and was wondering WTF does that mean.
