American Sport Bike's X1 Carbon Fiber Underseat Panel, do you have one? What are your thoughts about it?

I am new to Buell. My 00 X1 has the fender removed and I am trying to figure out if I should put one back or just clean up the under side of the under seat.

I have one and love it. Check out my profile, if you'd like more/better pics I could take some for you.
When I got mine I had to drill for the signal holes but I think they come pre-drilled now. I've had mine several years and it is holding up very nicely.
I would recommend getting the CF license plate re-locator also. I bought the SS one and it hasn't held up so good. One of the spot welds broke and it rattles.

I've seen those covers, and properly installed, they're pretty sharp.

I know you asked about an X1...but I have one on my M2 that I painted black...I like it.
Cleans up the tail and keeps everything under the seat clean.

Have the plastic model on my X1 and like it. I used some black RTV around the edge to keep rattles down and moisture out. Helps glue it in place. Cleans up the rear nicely.

I got lucky and bought a bike with the carbon fiber version already installed. I love it. I had to remove the rear hugger because it would rub the panel every now and then but I think the hugger is ugly anyways so it was no big deal. Mine has a rubber seal around the edge and though it is not air tight, my stuff never gets wet.

Sorry for the noob question but what is the hugger? Is that the rear fender that sits right on the tire?

Yes, it hugs the rear tire.

Well since we're on topic..

I was thinking about buying I too was thinking about buying the underseat panel from American Sport Bike. I have a tail bag that straps on with bungee's going under the seat. The bag sits on the passenger spot. My question is: How likely are the hooks going to scratch?

Prairie, what kind of hooks are you talking about? If they have the rubber ends on them you'd probably do O.K.
I now use those bungees that you can get with or without a tarp at Wallyworld. Single loop with a ball, they'll wrap around each other and don't scratch anything.
