Having trouble getting the rear of the pipe to mount. I imagine I now need to find a "Z" mount.
Should it have come in my updated "Y" mount kit?

Yep....Z mount should be here today, but I'll give em til Tuesday to buzz me.

Did you buy the can alone, or did yours come with the elbow?

If so, was the fit between the elbow and the can super tight?

Also...this is a dumb one....The red protective sheathing over the mounting tabs....did you remove those? Mine are secured on there with some type of industrial strength adhesive. Looks as if theyre not supposed to come off.

Well mine was the whole system. You have the D&D pipes too right? The elbow isn't used with the pipes as the two pipes curve under into a separate Y pipe which goes into the can. If you have the original type pipes, then you use the elbow. The pieces should be snug but not so snug where they don't fit together, then you clamp them down. Yea, the red covers come off, they are there for protection. just take a small screw driver, start prying gently to break the grip.

Do the mounting tabs on the rear of your D&D mount up flush with your Z mount?
The right hand side of mine is flush up against the Z mount, but the left side is a little cockeyed. Everything is tight, but it just doesnt look right.

If I had pics it would make explaining easier. Lemme try this...

Looking at the rear of the can, the right side looks like this-
D&D tab > || < Z mount
(can tab is to the inside)

the left side looks like...
D&D tab > /| < Z mount
(can tab is to the outside)

If you cant decipher it, dont sweat it. Ill be taking the bike in soon. I just wanted some input now to assuage my impatience.

Got your message Travis. Both tabs should be upright and each tab is to the outside of the Z-mount. Looks like one of yours is bent. So yes they do mount flush against the sides of the mount. Good luck, let me know if you need pics.

Nope...that clears it up. I installed the dang thing incorrectly, so looks like I'll be wrenchin' again...
Thanks, David. Your help is greatly appreciated.
