I have a 2002 M2 with a newly installed 42 Mikuni and also have a extra stock header for an X-1 with a bung for an o2 sensor. Could I get an o2 sensor for the X-1 header and install that on the M2 to get air/fuel ratio information to properly jet the Mikuni? I see from the S-3 manual that the o2 sensor reading can be taken with a VOM. Could I just put a VOM in my tankbag with the positive lead on the purple wire from the o2 sensor and the other lead grounded and get readings at various throttle openings? Sounds too simple. That is why I suspect there is more to it than I understand but I thought that, if it would work, it would be a great way to get the carb dialed in just right. Any help would be appreciated. Go to http://www.3barracing.com/product_3.htm and check out the air/fuel monitor. I use them on my turbo Dodge cars to make sure I'm not going lean under (decidedly non-stock levels of) boost. Feed 12v to the sensor, hook in the meter, mount it somewhere (its small, maybe 1" long by 1/4" tall) and go for it  | ||

You really want a wideband O2 sensor to get best info,like a dyno uses .Stock sensor is very narrow focused. There are lots of good ones out there.LM-1,WEGO, or NGK. | ||

you can get the 02 sensor and FUELL/AIR Gauge from "J.C.Whitney" and build your on as "i" have ... MUCH, MUCH cheaper !!! |
