Soo...I'll force myself to post to break the silence : )

Broke the S2 out of the garage today for the first time in about 10 days. A little backstory, I took some time off from work to catch up on a couple projects around the house and to help my in-laws with a renovation they're working on, and haven't been able to ride every day like I do when I commute to work. Been driving our Ram 2500 loaded with construction equipment, chainsaws, materials, etc. Not much room for that stuff on the S2, but I bet folks would let me merge if I had the Husky chainsaw strapped to my back, LOL.

At any rate, I was tuning the Husky in the garage and figured "hey, it's 50 degrees and I need some therapy". I also had to go make a loop of a couple fuel stops to find the best diesel price for tomorrow's trip to the site....sounded like an excuse to me!

Warmed it up...gawd, I love that sound. Headed out of the driveway and got the feel of 'er again. Took it easy till the tires warmed up and then started having a little cautious fun (roads are still wet in places, we had a ton of rain last night). Still getting used to that EBC front rotor, too - very good power.

On the return loop home I really had some fun, tucking in on the straights, hanging off a bit in the corners as much as I dared on public (rural) roads. Hit one nice, long, flat straight on the way home with great visibility and zero side roads or driveways for about half a mile and tucked in behind the +2" windscreen. Third, 6k, preload shift to fourth. 6k, shift to fifth. No wind at all, no buffeting, that windscreen makes a huge difference. 115 indicated and coming up on driveway-zone so roll off the throttle, sit up for more drag and WOW, what a blast of wind. I've never been able to get that far out of the wind before on this bike, I was amazed.

Roll it home from there at a moderate pace (the straight is only about a mile from the house) and - reluctantly - pull into the garage and turn it off. I hate that feeling, wanting to ride more but the sun's going down and there's a list of stuff to be done still. But at least I got about 45 good minutes in. I feel much better now!

Hey Guys,
LOL, it seems the winter blues has got us all down.
My S2 is parked for the winter with the battery out, and on the trickle charger.
Will probably move it to Phoenix for the winter to keep it out of the cold. : )
My city-X with it's short wheelbase doesn't do too well in the snow and ice we've had here in Albuquerque, so I don't ride it too often either.
I'm debating converting my S3 to an S1 over the winter. Hmmm, an S1 with hard bags, LOL!
I have taken the Harley out a few times, thanks to my electric gear, I actually enjoyed the ride, and it's longer wheelbase handles the snow a bit better.
I need to find a job that will let me spend my winters in Phoenix, and my summers in New Mexico!
: )

My S2 is in NM which is just as well since we got a bit of snow that has not melted yet. I am spending most of my time rebuilding a basket case S1W.

I went to Pikes Peak HD and saw the 1125r they had. They wanted 14 grand out the door. When they took me in the back to see it there was a 98 S1W like mine. Of course I was more interested in that bike. One of the young technicians rode a Buell. He asked me what Buell I had and I said I had several. He asked which one was my favorite. Without hesitation I said "the S2 of course". I doubt he had ever seen one. It sure does make me sad to see how some dealerships treat Buells and Buell riders.

I do miss the S2 sitting in the garage. Even when the weather is bad it is nice just to sit and stare at it....

I try not to stare at mine right now. It's filthy. The back (supposedly white) Marchi is the same color as my oak wood floors, LOL. It looks even worse since I cleaned the front - I inadvertently put clean spots on it with my hands when I installed the new rotor, whoops.

Maybe I'll clean it before I ride to the DC IMS on the 11th. Of course, if I do, it'll rain on the way down.... ;)
