Oh, I like that one. Some of the others are nice too.
I don't have a milling machine either, but I do have a drill press. My bike is full of holes. 
This was the first thing to lose lots of weight.

There are always the various aftermarket pulleys for the sportster that you can modify to fit your Tuber. Here is a shot of mine that I selected because it works better with my PMs.

The inner bore diameter needs to be increased to work with the PM wheels. I can measure my stock pulley and get back to you.
I can say the Dunlop D208 isn't a good snow tire. I prefer the BFG All-terrin but I can't find them in a cycle size.
I guess I will have to rely on my old SkiDoo Formula III for my snowy exploits. The long track does wonders for traction!

I paid just over $100 during the middle of last winter. I guess most were not thinking about bikes then. In my case not only did I increase the ID of the center bore but the thickness of the pulley was also reduced (at the hub) to keep the pulley centered (to match the stock pulley). I noticed there is an exact duplicate my rev tech pulley on ebay now at:

Werewulf - I have heard the bolt pattern is the same but you need to double check that info. The dyna pulley will be made for the 1 1/2" belt so it will be slightly wider which you will need to consider before fitment.

Thanks boiler, I would go the $100 too, but $250 plus machining is probably still a good deal but not in the budget....
If more precise information on measurements for the required machining are available I'd appreciate it so I can see if any of my machinest friends can help a brother out....

That price is not too bad considering what they can go for. I would be concerned about machining a chrome pulley that may not be billet underneath the chrome. Depending on what the metal is you could end up with rust as well as damage to the chrome if it is not protected correctly during the machining process.

Scott,
The inner diameter was machined to 2.464".
That is the same diameter that the ugly stock pulley measured. If you have the cast wheels you can get away with a smaller diameter. I agree that $250 is WAY too much for that pulley. It is a chrome over aluminum part which means you need to be careful when cutting through the chrome, watch for chips. I have had no problems with rust or discoloration and I have been out in the elements.
If you go to a pulley with more teeth you will increase the numerical ratio, meaning you may improve acceleration at the expense of top end.

I agree that the chrome covers look 100 times better than the stock black painted pulley. No machining required for the cover.
Some have machined the stock pulley to lighten and open face of the pulley (giving a nice look).
Either way the price is better than my pulley. |

I can't quite tell from the print out from my pulley, but it looks like the older (pre-2000) pulley has 63 teeth versus the 2000-later which have 61 teeth. The print is hard to read but that appears to be the difference. If someone knows for sure please correct/verify. |
