Are parts still available for the S2 s? Found a S2T but it is missing the bags and mounts just checking to see if they could still be purchased.

IIRC (I'll have to check once back at work tomorrow) the bag parts are available in primer. Pricey, but available. I believe we're SOL on brackets though. I'll check and post.

Are you sure the bike is a "T"?

Medic, let me know what parts you need. I have the bracket but noticed it is bent (does not appear to be very bad. I have some hardware as well and the inner lining that mounts to the bracket. Drop me a line at f_skinner@yahoo.com

White frame guys. I was looking to purchase one I found. Owner said it is a S2T. Just trying to make sure I could get the bags and mounts later if I wanted to. Thanks for the help.

If it has a white frame it is not an S-2T,they only had the charcoal frame.

Thanks for the info Jim. Owner seems to think he has a S2T model. What were the differences? Seat bars and bags.

Can bags be added to a S2? I like the look of the hardbags. Thanks in advance for the help.

They can be added. My bike is a straight S2 with all the T trappings - bags, lower fairings... The T was only a '96; all '95s were non-T bikes.

The bracket bolts right on, under the tail section. It sorta sandwiches between the frame and the fiberglass tail and the 4 tail bolts go thru the bag frame. It's an easy upgrade if you can get the parts.

Rat is correct, the "T" was only a 1996 year model and had charcoal frame/sideplates,hardbags,lowers,higher bars, and lower pegs. All of which can be bolted on to a standard S-2.

Thanks again for the help. It look as though it must be a S2,blue w/ white frame and wheels. 3200 miles and from the pictures it looks in great shape. Owner wants $3200. I may just go for it and try to pick up the bags later.

At that price....BUY THE DAMN THING. You won't regret it. My S2 has replaced both my S1W and my FLHP for daily transportation.

...and who knew? Saddlebag bracket 90518-94Y, available new, vendor direct. $131.00 list price. Cool.

Looks like you're on your own for the bags themselves, though. Sorry, discontinued. : (

Ratbuell,
are the S2 and S3 bags interchangeable?
will the S3 bags fit on the S2 brackets?
I was thinking of modifying the brackets on my S3 to fit on my S2, but if there are still factory brackets out there for that low price, i'll just snag them.
but will the S3 bags fit?

No, the 3 bags have a different (better) attachment style and a brace that I'm getting ready to add to my 2. The 2 has a brace that runs across the top of the bag, and a short leg down in the back to about the bottom of the license plate; three mounting points. If I load the bags down with the wide lids on, they bend inward at the bottom. The 3 mounting bracket has a brace that runs from the lowest point near the tag, across the bottom(ish) of the bag and angles down to the passenger peg mount.

If you have a 2, take a look here:

http://home.comcast.net/~buellstuff/lightonsbagrep air.html

It has some good shots of (and advice on the repair of) the S3 bags and their mounting points.

Basically...S2 bags have to have S2 brackets. S3 bags, S3 brackets. As for bracket-to-bike? Dunno, sorry.

I may have to do this...if I can find S3 bags.

Main S3T bracket, L1020.B, available, $172.00.

Rear support bracket, 91268-97Y, available $87.00

S3 inner bags are still available...for $429 each. Ouch. And the cheapest outers, narrow/primed, are available at $205/each. Inner and outer do *not* include hardware.

The S3 deep saddlebag kit, primed, Z0725.MPMD, is still available for $1400. This kit says "Fits S3 97-00".

I gave up on trying to get hard bags for my S2T (god knows whatever happened to the originals).
I'll be ordering some of these in the spring.

I think they'll fit.
