Author Message   Buelltours Posted on Sunday, November 11, 2007 - 02:49 pm:        Hi, maybe someone here can help me out: I am in the process of piecing together an engine for my S2. The crankcase requires 2 plugs (see pics - Number 5 - Harley p#727) which I need to get. My dealer has never carried those and neither have 3 more dealers they phoned. In 97 these plugs disappeared from the Sportster Engine. A mechanic in their shop told me to get some lead plugs in an automotive or hardware store. Before I do this, I wanted to check if anyone ever had this issue too. Since the holes were done away with it might be expedient to get a welder to heliarc these holes shut. If a lead or brass plug should back out while running you run the risk of not only a crash [when the oil gets on your rear tire!]and an engine failure when all your oil leaks out.
