I installed a new turn signal flasher yesterday, specifically for LED's. Now when I activate the right-hand turn signal switch, all four turn signals flash. It's like hazards for my bike. The left turn signals are weaker, but flashing nonetheless. But when I activate the left-hand turn signal switch, only the left turn signals flash. Where do I begin? | ||

check the plug-in and the switch wiring IF the 'clone wiring is the same as the X1 then power comes to the flasher from the "system" ( on with key ) from the flasher to the handle bar swtich the switch selects the side L/R the violet wire from the flasher is the "flash line" it goes to the switch, out to the lamps and to ground. problem is either l/R short or signals miss connected so that they are in series. so if you changed the blinkers out as well check those conns. if the new flasher is wired the same as the old one, other wise post pix sketch / data check blinker wires that came off for colors as I BELIEVE that in front that there are 2 bullets for each blinker easy to mix up | ||

Thanks Oldog. The wiring was crossed on one of the signals. There should be a book... "Color-Coded Wiring For Idiots" or "The Wires Are Colored For a Reason, Jackass". | ||

Don't feel bad. When I put the LED signals on my S1W, I thought I had three bad signals. Nothing. Nada. Had a beverage and an epiphany - L = light. E = emitting. D = DIODE. Duh, they're electrically directional, down to the little symbol on them and everything (->  . Hot must go to the hot side, ground must go to ground side...or the D doesn't E any L. |
