well, this morning i went out to start the buell, and walla, it cranks but wont start, the check engine light is blinking while cranking. And after about 4 or 5 tries to start, the batt went dead!! so i went and got a paperclip, jumped the 1 and 2 terminals to pull the codes, and the check engine light started blinking FAST! i mean, soo fast i couldnt count how many times it blinked, i think 10 or 11 times. Anyone have any clue as to what happened???

could be ecm issue as well hard to tell
IIRC the code sequences are seprated by fasst blinks.

Dnchevyman,

Check the IGNITION fuse UNDER the seat.

There is a 20 fuse in there that WILL go out and do the EXACT thing that your describing.

Dont bother cleaning the fuse just REPLACE it.

Matt.

fuse is good. now, i am not able to find anything explaining why the check engine light is blinking WHILE CRANKING (pressing the starter button). And i know how fast the light blinks to tell you codes, the light is blinking 3 times that speed when i jump the 1 and 2 terminals to retrieve codes.

You sound like your having similar problems that i was having. I couldn't fix it , the dealer made things worse. finally i put a carb on it and all problems are solved. The bike never ran this good.

i think i figured it out.... i think due to the batt. being dying its causing the bike engine light to blink as the batt gets a full draw from the starter when the engine reaches a compression stroke. i hooked the jumper box up to it today, and it started right up... i dunno, gonna do voltage draw and measure stator output tomorrow.... hopefully the batt i bought is dead already and will be warranty replaced and its not the stator or wiring issues.

Dan
If you have a voltmeter. You should be getting closes to 14 volts with the motor running above idle.

The X1/S3 is REALLY sensitive to voltages...

If there isnt enough, it will crank, but not start(all other factors being good)...

If it dies while riding... the bike will die..
