My check engine light comes only when at highway speed after about five minutes at around 3500rpm...And goes out after about 20 seconds after rolling off the throttle or exiting the highway.Im getting code 33.I assume my fuel pump is getting weak ???

Not sure what code 33 is, don't have my book here at work. If you think it's a fuel starvation problem insure that the fuel vent and line are unobstructed.

I would check all connections first. Fuel pump harness, pcm connectors. If you have access to a fuel pressure gauge you need 49 to 52psi key on motor off. Since the bike runs i wouldn't think the pump is bad. It takes at least 49 psi to fire the injectors. If the pressure drops to low it wont run.

Code 33... Fuel Pump

-BN/Y Wire is shorted to 12 volts. This will also cause the ignition fuse to blow.

-BN/Y wire is shorted to ground. This will cause the fuel pump to run continuously, even when the motor is not running.

-Fuel Pump motor stall or spins without providing fuel pressure.

Hope that helps

Jwhite, what did you do with the old sensor? It would be interesting to do a failure analysis on it to determine the root cause of the problem specifically, when it fluctuated, was it a tendency to indicate a short circuit or an open?

I may have thrown it out.The resistance went from very low to very high when moving the wire where it goes into the base of the sensor.I think just the vibration of the engine was enough to make it dance around and change the output.
