Hey Brinnutz,

The bike has the orange wheels. I really liked the looks of those PMs though. I promised my GF that the bike was fine exactly the way it was and needed nothing. I can already feel the urge to modify though and I don't even own it yet. The pics from that thread about the oil cooler install looked outstanding too. I can never leave things alone.

I told my girl the same thing. That was several thousand dollars ago. What works for me is saying it's a safety issue.

Same here Warlizard...

I've got all sorts done, and more I want to do.

This winter was thinking about tearing the bike down and replacing all motor mounts and maybe a 1250 kit, if I can get money...Poor college student...No cash, it sucks.

"I would also like to know exactly how a bike with only a few hundred miles ended up being a salvage bike."

Simple:
A crash destroyed the instruments and he replaced them.
Odometer is now NEW.
$5000 is way too much.

look at this:

I bet you could lowball his price a bit too.

Good to see "tuber" prices stabilizing and even rising a bit. I've got an '01 M2L with 45K on it that looked like I'd have to grind the serial numbers off it and dump it in the ditch to get rid of it. Looks like I might be able to sell it and upgrade to a new Buell after all.

This should be my final installment on the Cyclone choice thread. The choice has been made, and the bike is home in Green Bay.

I got up to the bikes location last night around 7. It was a long drive but northern wisconsin is beautiful this time of year. Besides one full-on ABS pumping deer avoidance maneuver, it went perfectly.

I pulled in the driveway and there was the bike. It looked outstanding. The guys dog didn't look outstanding. He kept following me around with all of his teeth showing. It freaked me out a little until I noticed he did that almost all the time... even when I was patting him.

The guy fired the bike up and it sounded really tight. My '06 RK always sounded like something was going to vibrate off, but this just had a tight drumming sound with a little mechanical whir. It idled really quietly, but when he cracked it open a little the V&H had a nice bark.

He asked if I wanted to go for a ride, so I went to the truck to grab my helmet, and... $&$#!!!!

I locked the keys in the truck!

DAMN!

I borrowed one of his helmets and we took a nice long test ride. He rode his wife's Blast and I took the M2. I just went up through the gears slowly at first and at the first corner I put a RK style grip on the lever and stomp on the peddle and... WOW! REAL BRAKES! Took corners...
No scrape of the floorboards!

The only part of the bike deal that was unexpected is that the bike is actually an M2L. I found that out before I left when I called Progressive to insure it. (only $5.00 more per month than my old 883 Sportster! COOL!) When I looked through the archives to see what the downsides were to having a low version, it didn't seem like anything I couldn't overcome, so I figured the deal was still good. That, and it had an oil-cooler I didn't know it had. That was a nice surprise.

We got back and spent the next hour trying to get into the truck. I am pretty good now, so if any of you want to go into business breaking into Ford F-150s I can give a class.

I was supposed to go to Tomahawk to meet some people for the Fall Classic but I went straight home instead. I lay down and tried to get to sleep, but I couldn't stop thinking about the bike out in the truck.

I was supposed to get help the next day, but instead I got dressed again and drove to a loading dock about a mile from my place, unloaded the bike and took a ride. It was cold, but FUN!

I parked the M2 in the garage and took out my bicycle. I hopped on and started riding to the loading dock to get the truck. (3:30AM) Everything was going fine until I tried to jump up over the median. I am not used to riding with jeans, boots, and a leather jacket.... so... I hit that curb about 25% lower than I expected and totally launched myself over the handlebars! Hmmm.... OUCH!

Finished the ride with a slightly bent front rim, got home and went to bed.

Woke up early and started riding. I took a break for some food and then went out again.

I have been riding for 22 years and I have owned at least a dozen bikes. I have never had a more satisfying riding experience in my life.

Unlike my RK, neutral was right where it was supposed to be. The bike turns exactly where you point it. It stops exactly when you want it to stop. It even started better cold than the moody RK EFI system. It looks BAD A** doing all of it!

I want to seriously thank all of you who gave advice on and off line. Thanks to you guys I got the right bike and paid the right price.

What a nice bike. Probably time to go out one more time tonight. My sport riding skills are rusty, and they need work.

Bill

I actually prefer the M2L seat over the standard one. I have one on my regular M2.

I'm glad you got that settled, I believe you done good!!
Enjoyed the story, it sounded so much like a lot of tales I've told. Some of us just live different lives than normal people. We're SPECIAL!!!
You've got me anxious to get started putting mine back together, and wishing it was a low like I am.
Rotzaruck!!!

Yeah man, I obtained my (kinda ruff) M2 last winter, worked on it,(with badweb coaching) and finally got it in half way decent shape. Rode two or three glorious weeks and tore it up. Got to ride my crutches all summer.
Hopefully I'll get to relick my calf over one more time again this winter but dodge the destructive part.
