I smelled gas in my garage this morning.
A small puddle was found under my X1.
So I wheeled it out to the street and looked it over in the sun.
The source was the underside of the fuel tank where the wires come out.
I tightened up the big nut under the tank and hosed it off.
It doesn't seem to be leaking now.

I only bring this up since it has never done this before and I have a big pile of miles on it.

You folks have any experience with a leak there?
Should I prepare for a real failure now?

My '99 S3 did that at about 48,000mi. I had just ridden 1,700mi. to the Phoenix area and the day I was ready to head home I had gas all over.
My buddy was impressed with how fast I pulled off the soft saddlebags, popped the seat, removed the tank, tightened the nut and had it all back together. All in about 15-20 minutes. It hasn't leaked since.

Thanks for that.
I guess I won't worry about it then.
