Don't have my manual with me at work, but IIRC it's 4.5 plus .5 reserve (my S2 is a '95; I believe all S2 tanks are the same, '95/'96)

I decided to re-seal the filler cap on my 1998 S3T, so, when I went on Reserve about 2 miles from home, I rode on into my driveway, found a 1-gallon gas can to drain the remaining fuel into (The S3T is also supposed to have 0.5 gal. reserve), and commenced to run it over. The reserve must be more like 1.5 gal.!

The factory service manual says 5 US gallons, including .6 gal reserve.

I've noticed on both my tubers, the reserve hits early. I only get 3.5 gallons of "normal" use out of my S1W and it's supposed to be 4.5; I filled the S2 yesterday and it took 3.6 gallons. From what I understand you can "adjust" when reserve hits by shortening or lengthening the main fuel downpipe (the description I got of the innards is there's 2 straws that stick up, one main - taller - and one reserve - shorter), but I haven't had occasion to take a petcock out just yet. And I don't want to unless I have to - Murphys Law hangs over my garage like a stormcloud and if I pull one out it's a virtual guarantee I'll build a leak.

Tanks vary in capacity, some moreso than others.

The reserve is set by the height of a little tube shoved into the top of the petcock inside the tank, reserve capacity can be adjusted by either trimming the tube shorter or putting in a longer tube.

My M2 had a reserve capacity of over a gallon, close to two gallons. Trimmed the tube and now it's somewhere way less than a gallon (maybe close to a quart or less, haven't tested it yet down that far into the tank).

I've put over 4 gallons of gas into the S2 before, and almost 5 gallons into the M2 once, got no real idea of their actual capacities.
