Looks great! My only concern would be about belt tension as it may be good now, but what happens of it stretches some? You will have no way of taking up the slack. Other than that, it looks awesome! I can't wait until you get it finished up and painted. BTW, I must be pc dumb or something, how did you link your photobucket pics to come up as thumbnails? | ||

The belt is what I would call slightly to tight, so any stretching I would appreciate as I ran my original belt very loose with no dramas for 52000klms! If it got to loose I'd either make a tension setup like the XB's or just buy a new belt. The belt tracks perfectly whether you roll the wheel forwards or backwards which is something I could never get my old belt to do! As for the thumb nails you have to use the Flock(photobucket edition) browser, got to your albums so that you can see all the thumb nails of your pic's with the tick boxes, click the pic's you want to make clickable, scroll down to see the 'Generate HTML and IMG code' tab, right click and copy the text in the 'IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended' box, then past into the body of your text on the Badweb etc click preview post and if you are successful you should see a clickable image. I hope this makes some sense cause it confused the Shit out of me! Thanks Neil, I'm waiting on an order of parts to arrive from St Paul H/D which includes the front disc, caliper, brake line, oil cooler and cover, XBSTT fly screen and headlight bracket. I'm also waiting on the clutch hub and a spring for the shifter shaft which I order here in Australia. Once these parts are installed I will take for a road test, If all is good then I will pull the bike down and have all the paint and powder coat done. I'm still waiting for the Force winder to arrive that I bought from Corey(ceejay). I'm very happy with the sound of the pipe I made, But I'll probaly remake it out of lighter materials i.e Titanium. The aircraft metal supplier I bought the Chrome Molly tube from sells it in sheets. If I can get a local sheet metal shop to roll it for me I can then weld it up. If cost is to high I may do the same as above but with aluminum instead. I hope to have it completed before the end of winter I'll keep you posted  Jodie | ||

Thanks Corey, I like the sound of it too! sounds much better in real life  I haven't yet received the air cleaner, when I do you know me there will be pictures posted! I was wearing a jacket because its been very cold here! but if the bike was going I would have rugged up and gone for a ride anyways... I hope your enjoying your new bike, I like the look of the 08 model thunderstorm engines. Looks like Buell have used some of there racing tech on that engine! Love the look of the new cam box! I have a couple of pics laying around of me and my old man, all dudded up in carhartt's riding around on dry streets but snow everywhere else. Bet your wishing you had a front brake rotor huh? Was that the only thing keeping you from riding? The USPS site shows only reciept of the item, so I'll call them tomorrow and find out where it is at. They told me it should be there by now. The bike has been tits! I've never owned a buell that I just got on and rode-on my tuber some of that was my fault, a lot of it not, but it's still cool. got the title, plates, etc. filled out a little over two weeks ago and have put over 1000 miles on her since. I'm kinda hoping that the air cooled can fit into the new frames. 5.6 gallons would get me a long ways with a 984 cc motor I know, I know. got enough projects already, and the old tuber did have a 5gal tank. It's pretty neat to go 200 miles before stopping for gas. I'm gonna have to disagree on the cambox. The one on my 05 is simple, small, and flows. I put my old pegasus cover in there and the thing just looks good. Not knocking the new ones, they have a purpose, nor the old ones, cut ones look tits, but I'm really digging mine at the moment-maybe it's the new bike glow crap The other stuff, like bigger crank pin and resettable TPS I wish I could get, but I guess that's why they make new bikes right... What Beer? I'm waiting on front disc, caliper, brake line, oil cooler and cover, XBSTT fly screen and headlight bracket. I'm also waiting on the clutch hub and a spring for the shifter shaft. to get it ridable. I just added new throttle cables and the wire form for the front brake line to my order from St Paul H/D. I don't think the XB engines would fit the new frames without some serious mods as the new engine looks to be solid mounted. You could do as what I think some racers are doing and get a Uly/Ss frame that would give the extra fuel capacity. I'd like to get an 08 XBSTT, fit a white firebolt front guard and the tail section off a XB city X. I think it would be a rad combo for my 6'5" frame! I just can't leave em' alone! I'm thinking of fitting the new XB style swingarm to my Buell as they have a better oil line route, old type the oil lines pull tight where the new ones sort of flex/compress. Just have to convince the Mrs of the extra cost! | ||

yea I don't think the frames are designed to hold up to the vibes. plus then an 07 or older type swingarm would have to be retrofitted also. I like the looks of the new frame(taller and thicker) plus the benifits of greater fuel capacity. Aren't the 06 and newer swingarms longer? getting close to the five foot mark if you go that route. Someone on the board did that, might have been with an 07. put a firebolt fairing, fender and used a Uly tail if I remember right. Looks excellent. The USPS only gave me the info I already had-when I sent it. Hopefully it gets there soon. Four to six post up-"Phew I need a beer!"-that where that came from. | ||

two length swingarms, didn't know that... I like the looks of the older ones, but if the newer ones are more sound... You'd have to do some more lathe work wouldn't ya? I thought that the newer swingarms had a different set-up also. Could be wrong though. | ||

Corey something look familiar? the Force arrived today! Yee hah! I hope I've installed it correctly...I guess I needed a small piece of hose and a large hose clamp to hold the filter on, bought some stainless lamps today for it. It's the first time I've sat on this machine and not have my right leg touch the air filter! As usual I have picture's...    Corey I don't know if you have a Buell dealer close by you, but if you do you can see that there are 2 different length swing arms. That is why the Uly/Ss/TT's run 135T belts and the City X/XB9/12R's etc run 128T belts. To fit the newer swing arm I only need to knock out my spacer's and press into the new arm, Shock mounts, brake caliper mount and axle are all the same. Much better design with the oil line setup. I'm going to install one as soon as I can afford it. I have also discovered that if I use the Uly/Ss/TT rear brake line with my shorter swing arm It will give me enough length to use yet another genuine part. Cool! I can't believe I forgot to put that clamp in there! sorry about that. What I did with the hose was ran a small fuel line type hose from the front head down to the frame and then along the inside of the frame to behind the cambox breather and down by the inside of the shock. If I can find a pic I'll send it. Looks good. Glad it got there as I was getting bothered... | ||

what about using the xb heads on the bike. that would further the transformation of a crossover and get rid of the hoses on the side and put them on the top. | ||

XB heads are on the cards for when I re-build the engine, 88 cu in etc(one day!) I went to Morgan and Wackers today and picked up the much needed clutch hub! I installed it tonight, and will test its operation in the morning. Jeff from Wackers gave me this X1 chin fairing they had laying around off of there old race bike...Cheers Jeff! I had to cut a section out of it to make it fit near the side stand, I'm going to weld some mounts to my exhaust to bolt the chin fairing onto. I think its looking better every day! Jodie, small question: if you hit a big bump, and the swingarm is at its max angle, won't the oil lines snap loose from its fittings? | ||

These current lines will be fine for my around the block road test. I've got another set up planned. It involves relocating the vent and return lines similar to what is on the newer XB swing arms. Which I can't do until I pull the frame from the engine and swing arm as I need the access for welding. |
