I have 2K X1 w/ PM wheels. I want to go to a 180 rear. Will I encounter any problems? Also, I was leaning towards getting the Pirellis that are now stock for current Lighning models. I will be changing front and rear together.

I have the 180 on mine and everything is fine. I think it was faster with the 170 but it may just be my imagination.

smaller circumference on the 180/55 as compared to 170/60. to me the 170 corners better than the 180 but the fatter tire does look nice.

Hey Warlizard, just FYI since you are new: check out the search function. Many of these questions are asked every few weeks. There is tons of info already on this board if you know where to find it. The Knowledge Vault is useful too.

And most tubers have 180 rears these days. 190s will fit too, but will reduce handling (same width, but flatter so they look wider).

The PM wheel's 5 1/2" width is optimal for 180/55 tires, according to most manufacturers. I'd use a 180 if I had a PMs. I run 170's on my stock (5" width) wheel, though. I tried a 180/55, but the profile seemed to be compromised - the tread was almost vertical at the shoulders. I found no advantages in adhesion, handling, or even looks, really (the tire looked more like a donut)}.

The only reason I'm sticking with the 180 that's on my S2 (was on there when I bought it) is price shopping both 170 and 180, both Dunlops, both D208...the 180 is cheaper. Not by a lot, but still...couple bucks is a couple bucks.
