While idling I was getting a loud chatter when I didn't the front break engaged. I inspected them and noticed the front break pads where loose. I pulled the pins and center bolt and everything looked good. I put them back in and they seated well with no wiggle. Since then I've put a couple hundred miles on the bike and they're starting to get a little loose again. The chatter hasn't come back yet like it was, but assume it will eventually. The break fluid is full and there's no problem with stopping power. Should I be concerned about the loose pads or is there a way to prevent them from getting loose? | ||

Did you put the stamped metal springy thing in? I can't remember what it's called, but it looks like an H and goes below the pin and basically puts a light amount of pressure on the pads. that would be my first guess... | ||

There was no spring when I pulled them out. Sounds like the culprit... | ||

yea, I don't have my service manual in front of me, but basically when you pull the cover screw, then pull the allen headed pin(on my M2 anyway) there's a metal "spring" under the pin they usually pops out. If you don't have one your brakes will probably rattle quite a bit. I'm sure there's a pic on here somewhere or if you have a service manual it will be in there. |
