Has anyone combined the Zero Gravity screen on an S3 with the Laminar lip?

Riding home yesterday into the wind, the Zero Gravity was a real dissappointment. My helmet was buffeted around so much that I started thinking about other bikes.

Are you running the stock height ZG or the tall one? I run the tall one on mine and it puts the wind right at the top of my faceshield. Less buffeting but not perfect unless I tuck in low when going fast.
The laminar lip might just be the ticket but I haven't tried it.

I have the +3 also.

I was riding 75mph down the slab in a 10-20mph gusting head wind, but it was coming from my 11 o'clock creating a LOT of buffeting. It was killing me - I couldn't hold my head still no matter how hard I tried. My head was getting tossed around like a ping pong ball in a clothes dryer.

I tucked in and was much better, but I got stabbed in the kidney by my wife who then caught all the wind right in the face.

The Laminar, when attached to the stock sheild, looks to yeild about the same profile of the Zero Gravity +3. If attached to the +3, I'm hoping it will be just that much better - But I'm not sure if the lip, which is designed for teh stock shield, with work with the laminar lip.

Not sure which size ZG I have, it was in the box the fairing came in. ( Ebay purchase ) I think it's the tall one. ( see my profile pic )

I've added the Lip, and suspect it would actually work better with the stock screen. On me the high speed air of the ZG hits at lower face shield height. The Lip diffuses that a lot. It's not that expensive in a world of $3+ gas. Give it a try, I installed, took it off, & put it back on. It's still on.

Aesquire - thanks, judging by the picture, you have the tall ZG screen. Your experience helps me a lot.

I found another alternative in the MRA adjustable spoiler. The cost is similar to the Laminar lip, but it has that benefit of being adjustable.

I may go this route...

I have had the 3" OVER ZERO GRAVITY WITH A LAMINAR LIP FOR SOME TIME. WORKS GREAT.WHEN YOU ORDER ONE, SEE IF YOU CAN GET IT WITH OUT THE PRE DRILLED HOLES AS YOU WILL NEED TO POSITION IT FOR A PROPER FIT USING THE STICKY TAPE THEY SUPPLY. THEN DRILL THE MOUNTING HOLES IF YOU WISH TO MAKE IT MORE SECURE AT HIGH SPEED.

Cool... I do like the ideal of the laminar because it traps the air from going around the screen and forces it over the top...

See Gustafsson "Dan Kourafas" model-I ordered it about a month + ago and have yet to receive it but its` tall and bulbous and looks like you can really hide out behind it at speed.Note,it may not be for everyone, some refer to it as a "pregnant whale" but when yer being buffeted about at 80 who cares-if you hurry the mold might still be warm.Glad to let anyone know what its` like if interested... whenever I get. it.

Well, I still haven't purchased the Laminar Lip or the MRA Spoiler yet.

I'm leaning toward that MRA Spoiler...

Naustin,

I put the +3 on this winter. I agree with what you said in the original post about buffeting around the helmet. I'll be interested in how much the add-on helps.

Update, MRA spoiler came on the big brown christmas truck today. Its under my desk. I can't wait to get home and put it on. Install looks simple.... Just have to decide whether to pull the screen off the bike and drill the holes on the drill press, or just wing it with the Makita while the screen is still on the bike.

Installed the MRA spoiler. Initial test ride indicates an improvement. Its not like sitting behind a Goldwing screen, but it definitely makes a difference. I still get airflow around my helmet, but there is less pressure.

Its like the difference between water coming straight out of a garden hose verses water running though the aerator in the kitchen sink. The airflow is 'aerated' if you get my drift.

The winds were steady and light tonight, so it remains to be seen how the performance will be in gusting heavy winds which is what I'm really trying to make a difference in.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
