Isn't the S2 a marvelous motorcycle . . . I swear there were days I'd ride from 4AM until midnight and not want to get off.

I recall coming into the Texas Panhandle one night, on the way to the unveiling of the S-1 in San Diego, and I was just at the start of one of my favorite albums. I ended up riding around, exploring the town in the middle of the night just cause it felt good to ride. . . .

What a bike!

Onahog. If its a guessing game I'd say $15,999 base price and add on $500 for the PM wheels. I may have a brochure in the attic but its not on this weeks priority list.

Yeah . . . . you were taken.

: )

It's Todd Williams, a long time staple of the Buell community.

Long before even Harley-Davidson began rooting around sniffing Buell out, Todd was an aficianado and kept detailed archives of each time Buell appeared, in any way, shape or form, in a magazine.

Todd and I kinda celebrated when he had to start the 2nd page of his list. Buell was very seldom mentioned in those days . . but when they were it was ususally a great story.

Arguably the most famous was Kevin Cameron's "American Dreamer".

The Fuell could not go to a nicer guy.

You're both winners and likely have better than 30 years combined Buell experience.

Todd:

Suppose it's time to start another "Elf Tales" series?

The last time, after I wrote the piece about Gary Valine, was when I got the memo form HD telling me I was never to refer to Buell employees as "Elves" and informing me it would harm their self-esteem and embarress them.

: )

Matter of fact, I'm not sure many folks here know where the term Elves came from . . .

There are some fascinating people at Buell.

I have the American Dreamer article here somewhere . . . finding it may be 18 months.

Hello,
I am new to the S-2 arena having ridden an S-1 since 1996 I purchased a fairly low mileage (29,000)1995 S-2 and I find that both bikes have attributes that I like that are different from one another. I am going to give the S-1 a rest this summer and concentrate on enjoying the S-2.

Had the pleasure to drive a beautiful S2 t ,
I still think it is purple ;) , I saw a green one as well , eager to be driven ;)
The driving was very comfy , had to get used to the seat position , you sit further back and leaning more over, the bike thinks for you, you think corner, the bike corners
Steady and stabile, more stabile then a later tuber
When a nice one for sale comes to my attention, I’m buying it

Bud:

It sounds like you guys had a GREAT time! Susan and Aaron are wonderful hosts and the area is beautiful.

I wish you would have ridden the green one . . it's needing some miles. The S-2 is a incredible motorcycle. Aaron's is actually a color called "Parkway Blue". It's a long story about how purple ended up getting called Blue.

As we say in America . . . "Remind me to tell you sometime".

All the best wishes for many happy years with your new Buells. If I may ever help with any information or support please contact me.

Court

P.S. - we'll find that story somewhere. . . .

Hi Court,

Thank your for your offer,
Were going to need that,
The Rs needs a few parts and attention, to make here in top shape
Tank lining, dust seals, and an over all check up, and lube job
We promise only on sunny days to take here for a spin,
The RR is so nice and new (and me having a habit off crashing all my new bikes)
I don’t think, I will ever take here for a spin,
But the mechanic in me says, the engine at least has to be run-in properly,
And she will make a very nice appearance on the Benelux HD Buell track event
Just some slow laps,
I heard that even here brake pads are hard to come by, not to speak off the fairing

There’s going to be a nice team Elves corner in ore new shop,
With the RR in the spot lights, for people to enjoy here looks and here history.

We don’t want to put here in an old folks home yet, so a battery charger on here,
Ready to go, in tiptop shape,

Greetings form Holland,
Silently waiting a call from the shipper, and fingers crossed the voyage didn’t damage her

Bud & Easy

ps..will take your bike next year ; )

ask Aaron how persuasive Easy can be ; )

Bud:

Your BIG BUY was that RS-1200.

It holds a special place in my heart as that was the first Buell I owned 17 years ago.

Mine was the same beautiful red and I've got many fond memories.

The particular bike you bought has a very interesting story behind it. A number of years ago I was with some folks in our riding club that include David Crosby, Lyle Lovett, Lauren Hutton and Jeremy Irons.

Some alcohol was involved as we debated Charlie Falco (UA Chair of Condensed Matter Physics and Professor of Optical Sciences) and Ultan Guilfoyle's choices of bikes to include in the Guggenheim's "The Art of The Motorcycle" exhibit.

George Barber has contributed his bike for the premier in New York City. You may have heard the term "blockbuster"; well the show in New York City indeed was . . . there were like 12 times as many folks attend as for the Picasso exhibit. To this date, The Art of the Motorcycle is unequalled in art museum attractions. . a record I expect to stand for a long time at the Guggenheim.

Anyway . . I get a call one day that Mr. Barber needs his bike back for his own display and that the Guggenheim desperately needs a Buell for the shows gala opening in Las Vegas.

I made one phone call. . . deal done.

The next problem is that they need it there like NOW. There's much hand wringing and a flood of creative ideas from the arts community about how to quickly transport the precious cargo to Nevada. They were in a quandary.

I spoke to Aaron and his response was essentially . . . "it's a frickin' motorcycle. . RIDE IT!"

Several days later I was easing down that gravel roadway about 3:30AM. . . it was cold and I stopped near Vail the moment places started opening. I bought two cups of coffee. . . one to hold in each hand.

Glenwood Canyon is not to be believed . . . it was spectacular.

Later in the day . . . I looked at my "where I need to be when" chart and decided to take a short cut down Highway 89 rather than I-15.

No sooner had I turned off on the secondary road than I was stuck behind a motor home and began to think . . . I'll never make it.

After about 5 miles, he pulls off and I was treated to the entire length of 89 which, as you will see on a map is a high speed section of fascinating road running in a valley between a couple mountain ranges.

I took some "action shots" while on the road but, due to the fact that the speedometer was visible in the photos; I've held them pretty close to the vest. : ) I will say that the RS-1200, like the S-2, has a particular speed (80 MPH is the first one, I'm talking about the next one up....ah never mind) that it REALLY likes to cover ground at for extended periods.

My schedule was looking good and I was now basking in temps headed toward 100oF so I decided to take a little side trip to shoot photos of the bike at sunset in Bryce Canyon. . . .

I could go on for hours . . . but I shot several rolls of film, tons of digital and got some dandy shots of the bike at the Guggenheim.

Yep . . .you have a real winner on your hands with that bike! You better take care of it because I think I'm going to be coming over to check on my baby . . .

When I bought mine you could put all the Buells in the world in Aaron's shop. No need to tell you how special that red RS-1200 is to me!

Congratulations!
