ok well about a month ago i got my bike out. ran good the first few times i had it out then it blew a valve cover gasket. had the dealer take care of it, because i had warranty left. anyhow got it back put a bosch 4wire o2 sensor on along with my pcII and gutted exhaust. ran even better. rode to work and around home several times. now today im out for about 5 minutes and i stop by my folks to say hi. when i go to leave it wont start. when i do get it started the engine light comes on and runs like garbage. so i took of the rear wire it ran the same, garbage. then i took off the front wire wouldnt run at all. so i took out the plugs and switched them and still no run when i have the front off and rear on. any ideas. i hate to bring it to hd plus they are closed on sundays. i figured that since i have riden it several times that the battery is ok and i can hear the fuel pump come on. by the way its a 2000x1.

thanks

scott

Sounds like you fouled a plug--put new ones in. Then check your plug wires.

Check rear High voltage wire, Coil, low voltage wire. Do you have fuel to the rear cylinder?

I saw that trouble code a lot. Maybe fuel? This is serious, I blew a hole through the rear piston.

While you have the connectors open, give them a healthy dose of dielectric contact grease to help keep moisture out. I had a similar problem with a show car years ago - when I bought it from the PO, it had a misfire. I checked and rechecked and ran and checked and ran and checked, and couldn't find anything. Eventually it cleared up, until the next car show and it acted up again. Turns out the Armor All was getting into the injector plug, fouling the connection. Who knew a car show could make a car run crappy? LOL. Greased the connections, no problems since.

Good point, but I am always careful to put dielectric grease on the outside of electrical connectors where it is away from the actual contacts. Anything that is "dielectric" means that it is a nonconductor of electric current. You don't want anything nonconducting getting between contacts. If anything, the only thing I would use on the contacts themselves is contact cleaner spray.
