I'm a big fan of black too, but I prefer to shine!

Eengler2- Thought about black heat wraps for the pipes yet?
Black it to da maxx!!!!!

Ragnagwar...Nice ride, mang.
Couple o' questions...

In your opinion, is the Banke shift kit worth the money, and is it imperative that you purchase the Banke peg relocators as well?

What type of air cleaner is that?(looks bad-ass!) It resembles the "Maliair" 400 cfm race cleaner.
http://www.steelthundercc.com/buell_parts.html

Im wrestling with the aircleaner decision as we speak. Buell race ham can? Maliair?Forcewinder? ARRRRGH!!!

BTW...does ANYONE know how many cfm's a Forcewinder flows?

Ragnagwar
What model Givi windshield is that? a755? How good does it cut the wind?

I have been seriously considering one for longer trips. Although the last little ride I took, showing up on a badass naked M2 when it's raining/sleeting does get nice stares from the Honda ST1300 group I was meeting!

Torquemonster,
Yes I have considered wrapping my pipes. Not going to do anything until I decide if I am going to move forward with a turbo project or not.

Many projects at home right now though: enclosing my carport into a garage (for more motorcycle projects), new carpet in screened-in porch, and bar for said porch! Need to finish those by July 7th when my wife is having her extended family in for a cookout. (if anybody will be in Lafayette, IN that day, PLEASE come drink some beer with me!)

It's time to buckle down and get serious...

Very nice! Need more details on forks, wheels, etc.

I like the blacked out swingarm. That is on my list of to-do's. That way the only main part of my bike that is not black is engine/trans. Will bring more attention to the soul of the bike.

You asked for it.
FORKS:
1)Ground off the brake caliper mount on left leg. 2)Machined leg to accept Banke no-flex axle. Its hollow like the XB axle.
3)Sent to Lindemann Engineering to have re-built with Ti-Nitride coated tubes,(supposed to reduce stiction, looks cool)
stiffer springs, and re-valved to my weight. 4)Triple trees machined by Crossroads Performance(removes the casting marks to appear like billet aluminum),
powdercoated black, along with the Crossroads fork brace.

This was all done prior to my tear-down in late 2003. Click on my profile to see the "before" pic.(cont)

Wheels:
1)Marvic cast magnesium wheels were bought from American Sport Bike when Tat was still running the store. 2)Braking wave rotors and lightened and polished rear pulley acquired more recently from Al. 3)Just mounted up a set of Pirelli Scorpion Syncs, since I have been really happy with them on my XB9S.

Motor:
1)1450cc Axtell iron-lined aluminum cylinders, with forged dished pistons, 2)stage 3 XB heads, Roller rockers. 3)Redshift 585 Cams, new bronze oil pump drive gear. cam cover cut down. 4)Crank rebuilt with S&S connecting rods. 5)Mikuni HSR45 6)Buell Race Kit 7)Transmission re-built and gears back-cut. 8)Heads, cylinders, engine cases and covers, along with frame, swing arm and mounting block all powder-coated wrinkle black.

There's more bits and pieces but that about covers it.

I can't wait to start this thing up.

Just waiting on a few parts from Al and Andy

Ragnagwar, where did you get those footpeg relocaters? I have a set of Banke rearsets, but I am debating putting back on the stock mounts. The stock mounts caused my footpegs to drag on the track (also had to mod the kickstand stopper so the kickstand wouldn't drag), but they're more comfortable on the street. Can yours be adjusted? That would be the best of both worlds!

Tim,
Very impressive. The Ti-Nitride coating looks awesome against the black. Any plans for different body plastic? All of those updates on motor/suspension deserve something more exotic/updated.

"Torque"
I picked up all the Banke linkage used, so it actually cost me less than the upgraded Buell linkage would have. It does work great though and is far superior to the boomerang stuff that came on the bike. You don't need the relocaters to use the linkage, just personal preference. Yup that's the Maliair air cleaner.
"Eengler"
Correct, the Givi 755 and it provides a heck of a lot more protection than the stock unit but is by no means a touring type keep you out of the weather setup.
"Nocompromise"
The peg relocaters are Banke units and are not adjustable.
HTH!

I have been searching fruitlessly for a rear wheel like yours to match my front Marchesini.
Any interest in trading your wheels away? I have some interesting items--need a turbo?

Eric,
I like what you and others have done with your bikes, in going for more of the minimalist/streetfighter look.

What I am trying for with mine is kind of a monochromatic factory "works" M2 streetbike.

Daniel,
Thanks I like the idea of keeping the
stock forks and improving them visually and functionally.

I am glad to see Rex post his beauty. I first saw his "M3" in B2W, and it was my original source of inspiration to start mods on my M2.

Rex,
Are you in AZ? I am considering moving there and remember something you posted about emissions testing issues. Also do you have a '97 M2 parts manual? I would love to see what it would take to move my ignition down from the dash.

FMJ,
Are you talk'in to me? I haven't even turned a wheel yet!

Also, new brake pads front and rear.

After much deliberation, I am wanting to put proceeds into my CB750 and the rest in case Buell comes out with something new that I want.

That would be a good deal if the bodywork wasn't cut-up...

...just kidding! You know I like it.
