I finally scored an engine crane from a pal so I could get that empty OE shock out and replace it with a new one. I ordered all the new bits (new mount, clamps and all) and it went smoothly until I lowered the bike off the crane and it kept going. So low that the sidestand doesn't even hold it up. I'm busy as hell trying to figure out what happened and all I know so far is the belt is super tight. I mean NO deflection at all. Is there another adjustment not listed in the recall lit? I weigh about 150 and with me on the bike, the distance from eye to eye is 16.25". When I get off, it goes down to a whopping 16.5". Personally, I liked it better when it was tall but did the pogo. Or the front shock mount for that shock. Don't feel too bad. You're not the only one to make that mistake  (Message edited by Lake_Bueller on February 26, 2007) | ||

It would be a lot less inexpensive to get the correct front mount. The mount for the long shock is straight - the mount for the short shock is banana shaped (curved). The original (SRP non-reservoir) shock for a 2000 M2 was a long one with a straight front mount. You might already have the correct mount if your old shock wasn't previously replaced. That, or your pre-load is way off... | ||

I still have the long, straight mount off the original shock (no reservoir.) I guess I'll put the old mount on and go about my way. Any problems with that? Thanks, Brent | ||
