What are the advantages of the PC versus the Race Only ECM (for an X-1)? I am using the search to go through the old listings but generally only one is discussed instead of a comparison.
Thanks!
Boiler

The race ecm is perfect for the average bolt ons, airbox mods, exhuast...

after that, if you decid eto delve into cams, and displacement...THEN you would need to look into the PC, or something else..

Boiler:
Chase has nailed it, I had the PC ( sent to Chase ) I have the race ECM, after it learned it seems to be ok.
Oddly low end and throttle response is much better with a pipe and FW with the Race ECM.

The pc3 allows you to add or remove fuel
above some minimum speed, contact Pammy @ cycle rama for further info,
you can add a HI-per O2 sensor but I cant comment, the PC3 works, the race ecm works best with the race kit, and ok with a fw and super trapp.

Contact Liquorwhere He may have one to sell you.

Chase & Oldog,

Thanks for the informative replies. It looks like the Race Only ECM is my choice. I don't plan to open the engine any time soon and I can't ride to the potential of the bike anyway.

Thanks.

Remember that the Race ECM is part of a package. You need to have an aftermarket exhaust to have it work properly. When I first got my bike with the Race ECM the shop didn't have the race can so they tried running it with the stock muffler with no luck. Once the race can was installed it works GREAT. I'd HIGHLY recommend the aftermarket headers as well. I wouldn't bother with the PC.

The "Race" ECM also gives you some spark advance that the PC does not....

Why not use Direct-Link? We tuned a 90" X1 with direct-link with no problems.

Becuase, the local HD doesnt have a clue about Driect Link... they only know the PC, or the Harley race tuner thing...in other words, they are useless... and the nearest one, that MIGHT have a clue, is 3 hours away...and I am NOT gonna worry about riding that far..

Anyway, for now, the Race ECM seems to be handling everything, not running rich at all..., once I change the cams, that is where things will get interesting...

Though, the damn pushrod tubes, on the back cylinder, are friggin leaking....

If they actually tune (read don't just put in a premade map) the PC and Race Tuner, they can definitely do direct-link. Direct-Link actually functions very similar to Race Tuner.

Whatever you use, just make sure they tune AROUND the AFV learn area or else your map will be skewed shortly after the tune.
