Help! Should have bought one last year from Buell before the price increase. Dennis Kirk lists an EBC for $199. Any suggestions? Thanks.

At $199, I'd get the EBC. This isn't something you want to buy used, unless you have too.

What ever you buy, I recommend staying away from the early 6 button disc.

Is it possible to replace those little buttons on a rotor?
I think mine are getting floppy.

I think it's possible to replace the buttons or whatever they're called, mine are VERY loose. At idle the rotor rattles louder than the exhaust. Mine has 35,000 miles on it, time to replace the whole thing. Just trying not to spend too much money.

Bad_Karma,

I definitely plan to upgrade to a better rotor. I can't believe mine has lasted as long as it has. No pulsing, just loose buttons. The thing that chaps me is the Buell rotor went from $120 to $300.

I got the rotor last year for $120, don't forget the button style bolts at $5/ea. I had trouble getting the flat head bolts out until I drilled a bigger hole and drove a torx bit into it. Then the bolt just screwed right out.
One of the duals on the CBR1100 is also loose and rattling and also $300. It does have a cooler looking web though.

My first set within 15K. The newer style has last at least that long, but looks like wear will be the determining factor in replacement. This is a wonderful break and we demand a great deal from it so I wouldn't want to push it. My 96 S1 put me on the interstate in Richmond in 2000 so I don't press my luck. Check with american sport bike they have a few options. Up until now I have use the stock brake setup but when this set goes I will try different setups for each bike. 35K sweeeeet!

Moundsville, my x-wife is from Wheeling.I an parkersburg. I keep meaning to ride some of the back roads like 88 out of Bethal but so far I have enjoyed 250 from Stauton and the road that goes east out of New martinsville. Hope to see you in the spring.

Replacing the buttons won't fix the problem! It's actually the alloy carrier that wears out.
I can post a picture of mine. My disc was still like new when I replaced mine with the newer full carrier type.
I used to have to hold the front brake on just to stop it rattling at the traffic lights.
If your going to replace the disc the bolts holding it on need a good hit with a hammer and drift to help free the loctite.

Good luck
Jodie

For a few dollars more a wave rotor from Braking solved my rattling problem.

Thanks Jodie.
Mine isn't rattling yet but I can feel a bit of a "clunk" when I apply them sometimes.

268.15, ouch!

Got mine five years ago from SMS racing and paid 230.00. Figure I'd gone through at least two stockers by now.

Bad_Karma,

250 is one of my favorite roads. Let me know when you're up this way, I never get to ride with another Bueller around here.
