Joe-
Do you still have your Blackbird? I sold my '97 to my son and he is doing his best to wear it out. Last summer he tried to push a Durango out of the way. Now it is in my garage slowly being put back together.

No I sold it, I was getting to wild on it and needed to slow down. I hope your son is okay.

He just had some hurt pride and a scraped up ankle. The bike really didn't fare too bad but he doesn't have collision and can't afford to fix it so he's using up my Christmas, birthday and goodwill for awhile.

It was kind of fun giving him the old stator cover and turn signals in a box for a Christmas present.

Just checking the site today after much time off. I have the same fog lights on my X1 and have had for about 3 or 4 years. They are still working famously and are a breeze to get to. I cut the light mount in half and used a stock bolt next to the headlight to mount them. Just have to make sure the screw holding the foglight is nice and secure. If you are using the illuminated rocker switch that comes with the kit there is a nice cutout on the windscreen bracket that it fits snugly into and looks like a custom job and is easily reachable while riding.

Cool! Good to hear!

I bought a smaller black switch with a single LED when ON.

I played around with different mounting places. There were a few I liked better then where I ended up putting them, but I wanted to keep them away from the headlight a little bit, so I ended up with what you see above.
The biggest disadvantage is that I can no longer put smaller turn signals on the front.

Do you have pictures of yours installed?

I will try and get the X1 out of hibernation tonight. It's wrapped up good and tight with my new cover from Christmas. Isn't it good when others get you bike goodies? And since it has been up for a couple of months now I have to rearrange the parking situation. Darn these one car garages! I'll try and have them tomorrow.

P.S. nice wire job. I eliminated my license plate lights when I put in the CF panel kit w/license plate relocator and used that to wire my foglights into. I don't know if by doing that I have violated any laws but I'm sure they will let me know when the time is right, right after they've taken my license and registration. lol

Yeah, law states you have to have a white light on your license plate.

But I doubt there going to pull you over just for that.

AND... this is KY. Not knocking my homestate but it seems as long as it's going the right way on the right side everything's pretty cool.

O.K. O.K. I'm still waiting for some pics to come through on my e-mail but here is what I have so far. I used the stock bolt just under the turn signal stem to mount these. As you've probably noticed I run them vertical instead of horizontal. I thought it tucked them in nicely and they still put out ample light. I cut the foglight mounting bracket in half because of the lip on the buell headlight bracket and ran the light with the wires down for obvious water and gravity reasons. The toggle is for my heated grips but if you take the supplied rocker switch out of it's mounting bracket it will push into that slot very nicely. I have yet to have any trouble with mine. The head on pic is slightly misleading because the light looks crooked, it's not, I think it's because I couldn't get the bars turned for a true head on shot. That's how I mounted mine, if you have anything specific just ask. Also if you know of anyone looking for a nice X1 I have mine for sale locally (kinda) if it sells it sells if not then I get some more riding time. When I bought it I didn't have any children, now I have three. I spent more in ins. last year than gas which is what lead to the decision to sell. Hope these help!
hole for switch and light mounted

mounting bracket without light attached

"head on" shot. I will post the others when they come through

The pics finally came through.

Basically just some close ups of how and where they are mounted. I think whatever your setup it will be better than stock. Before starting out on a ride my friends used to joke about having to pull up the lens and light my candle.
