the supertrapp IDS sounds pretty damn good as well.

Force will run between 700-800

D&D Slip on, 325

I had a D&D slip on, then went to the full system.

The D&D will set off car alarms at idle..sounds mean while cruising.. and down right angry under full throttle acceleration...

If you go with the vance & Hines SS2R it will not be loud like you want but it has a nice sound. You will want to up grade to the S1W header with the 2.5" collector. If you can pick up a used Two Brothers setup has the db and tone.

the bub pipes that i had on the other m2 made a great growling sound but you lose hp. the force that came on this m2 was so loud it didn't even make any difference with ear plugs in. probably because it comes out directly beneath you. if the d&d is a little longer, that might be better to have unless you can deal with the noise. right now i have the super trapp. hardly any noise.

the Trapp can be tuned to be almost as noisy as the force! i tested each with a SLP meter and was only 1 db different. i ran my Trapp with 21 discs and an open end cap with the opening opened up larger, freakin' loud! if i remember right the force was 120 db and the trapp was 119 db at the test location and distance. a trapp with less discs and a closed end cap is not nearly as loud.

so i was doing the complete opposite of what i should have been doing to get a little more noise out of it. i was taking the discs out thinking it would open it up, leaving the end cap in.

I started with about 24 discs in my Buell version of the Supertrapp. It set off car alarms just fine. I've been trying to quiet it down by removing some discs but the tone isn't as nice.

hey neil,

if you can find a "racing only" open end cap, it will make quite a difference!

What do the discs do when you have an open endcap? Does adding or removing discs change anything with an open endcap?

some, because the endcap is only partially open, it has a hole cut into it, maybe 1.5 or 2", i put mine on a lathe and opened it up further even! so adding discs still has some effect, but it takes a bigger change to notice.

trapp info;

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/pdfs/suprtrapin fo.pdf

quoted from Nightrider.com;

The un-baffled SuperTrapp test was conducted because past tuning efforts have resulted in the highest horsepower and torque figures from this configuration. When the pipe is run without the baffles, the power band is quite narrow and peaky. This is a good combination for drag racing, but it is deemed unsuitable for street performance. This pipe setup is also very loud, sounding more like a race bike than a street machine.

The normal street configuration of the SuperTrapp on this engine is 21 disks and an open end cap. This configuration is also similar to those in other tests published by several v-twin specialty magazines. The power band for this setup is known to be very wide and flat, something that is very desirable for good street performance. The normal SuperTrapp setup has always had very reasonable noise levels to it, and the typical smooth sound of unequal length 2-1 pipes. True performance enthusiast seem to like the sound while unknowing v-twin purist is more worried about the pipe not looking like they expect a Harley to look like.

is it easy to find the open end caps sleez, cause they quit making the muffler for the buells, at least the tube frames. the one i got was off of ebay which i wasn't sure what i was getting but come to find out it was an order slip on that didn't have the reinforcement or the proper support bracket for the front. any ideas for the bracket. (price i payed to save half the price on a new one i guess) i'll never buy anything off of ebay again for the bike. and phat_j, if you want to buy the force off of me let me know and make me an offer, i'd be glad to sale it to you. that thing screwed with my head just like being on a wicked roller coaster. screwed up my equilibrium.

Does a SuperTrapp style muffler blow exhaust straight on the rear tire?

Any of you guys used a drummer on a tuber? I'm thinking of running that with the Nallins hurricaneflow air cleaner on my cyclone once I'm up for the additional hp... Any of you guys have experience with setup?

neil,
i think this is the right one;

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part= sup-405-3046

i am not sure on the front mount, all my megaphone type Trapps had the front bracket welded on i believe and i broke two, Trapp always replaced them and eventually replaced it with the IDS set up.

Dj,
on the tubers it is a bit off to the side and with the 120 deg shield, works pretty good, the newer IDS muffler has a conventional looking outlet tip angled off to the side.
