I'm still toying with the idea of adding a new bike to the fold. I've considered a speed triple and a Uly. There is a dealer close to me that has a new 2001 S3. He wants $11,000(CAN) which seems a bit high to me. He says the bike listed for $18000 (CAN) in 2001. It's not an S3T so I would still need to source the bags and hardware for it. I'm intrigued by it but not sure if it would be a wise move. Any feedback would be appreciated.

it's worth about 6000.00 US $ in my mind.
Does it still have the one year warranty?

It has full 1 year warranty.
I'd be interested if I could get a deal on it but $11000 seems awful high. I don't understand why a dealer would prefer to hold onto it instead of freeing up the cash and making money with it. Doesn't the dealer realize that the longer he waits fewer people will be interested in it and it will be worth less? I'm in the car business and when we have an old stocker we'll blow it out just to get rid of it.

I think that bike retailed for around 12900(u.s.)When it was new.I would have to look it up again but I think that is pretty close.

I just replaced my bags on my 99 S3 this summer and they where just over $1300. The price sounds high.

Being new and at a dealership doesn't mean it has a warranty. There was big money back to the dealers (rebates if you will) during that time period, only a Moron wouldn't have reported it sold and collected the money, which in turn could have made the retail purchase price cheaper, or their profit higher.
The warranty would have started on the day the bike was reported sold.

I have a feeling that buying this bike isn't a really good move. I think I'll veer toward a Uly demo that's available in my area. I really appreciate everyone's input. This is such a great forum!

Sorry dealer wants his money back SIX years later. What a joke. Any vehicle that sits for 6 freaking years isnt worth its brand new price of the dealer. Regardless of ANYTHING. Seals the brake system etc etc Id be very worried about regardless its been on a show room floor the whole time. If i had the money id give ya 100 bucks to make him think your going to buy it for another year. He should know better.

I bought my 1998 S3 from HD Ottawa at a sweetheart of a deal.

At the time of purchase I could have had a 2001 S3 from a Retailer in New Brunswick (new bike on the floor with warranty) for about $8,500.00 CAD.

I bet its still there, PM me for details.

Also I had three more to look at in Ontario including a 1991 or 1992 RS. The guy with the RS wouldn't sell it to me when I told him I was going to ride it every day and back to Newfoundland.

I agree with Daves thats $6700 canadian. Don't get me wrong I love the older tubers but they are old tecnology compared to the XB's. You could buy a new 9 for what he wants for an S3.

I got a new old stock 03/9R a couple years ago for less than $10,000 taxes included.
