I know there is atleast one person here who swapped out the stock lock for a different type. Mine is busted and I need to do something about it. I called Pensacola but a new set is $150. | ||

I put a plastic plug in mine about 11 years ago . . . a piece of velcro on the bodywork and the mate on the bottom of the seat. Works great. | ||

Well my seat doesn't fit that well... Is there anyway to make it fit closer so that I could use velcro? Would a heat gun work? It's the stock seat. | ||

Notpurples2- Early stock S2 seats had fiberglass seat base. The later seats had a plastic seat base. The plastic seat base had a grainy texture to it and additional bracketry attached to the bottom of the seat base (i.e. visible when the seat is off the bike). I'm sure the fiberglass base won't budge with heat from a heat gun, but am not sure about the plastic base. I would suspect that material could be added to either the seat or tail section to take up enough of your gap to use the Velcro trick. Court- Velcro to secure a seat, hmmm, kinda sounds like the old RS and RSS bikes. As an owner isn't it great what one can do? As a manufacturer connected to H-D isn't it great what Buell was forced to do? There is a Harley requirement that, if a bike has a seat strap, the bike must be able to be picked up by the seat strap. Therefore the S2 and subsequent Buell models built after H-D's initial involvement had to have more secure (than necessary) seat mounting than the previous bikes. 1313  | ||

Other option would be to use a cabinet lock from Home Depot or Lowes.. Be sure to take the old one with you because the lenght will be important so it fits in the seat slot.. | ||

Good suggestion to use a cabinet lock, I have had one on my S2 for years and have used it with the stock seat, Buell upgrade seat (metal bar that hooks and keeps the seat in place with out a lock), and a Corbin seat. | ||

I went to a local locksmith and got a complete replacement latch keyed to match and even better,I was able to take key out in locked or unlocked positions,cost about 20.00.Take yours to compare as they make ones that open/close in opposite direction so won't work. | ||

I'd think a lock smith could take care of you. I went to one for a replacement key - he cut it for me in minutes. DAve |
