Been having intermittent problems all summer with the neutral light not lighting when I first turned on the key. The engine would start if I pulled in the clutch though. Once the engine started, the indicator light would illuminate and work OK. I tracked the problem down to a loose connection behind the starter; the plug was connected, but just barely. Suggest you all do a quick check of this; it only takes a second. | ||

Was that the connector to the neutral "sensor" that was loose? Henrik (not that I have one on the S2 - just curious) | ||

Check the wiring harnesses that are just below the battery. There is a molex connector that goes to the Neutral sensor. If it's dirty or unseated it causes this problem. It happened to me earlier this year. | ||

i've had the same thing going since spring! i must admit that i have'nt done a damb thing about it however. it seems that if i turn it off for a little while 20-30 min., when i turn it back on the neutral light is there and she fires right up! will fix before i put her away though. | ||

Oh....I guess I did post this. Anyway, it's a single wire connection that comes from the switch (not the switch itself) and is just a snap-in fit. Should take about 10 seconds to check it. |
