1. Where can I find the S2T peg lowering kit? 2. Is the oil pump drive gear for '96 bronze or steel? Is it prone to failure the way later M2's are? 3. Does the clutch have that goofy spring plate in the middle of the clutch pack? 4. Does it have the weaker primary chain tensioner? 5. Did Buell make a Pro Series seat for the S2/S2T? 6. Where can I find wider lids for the bags? Thanks-- Joe |

I'll answer the easy ones (well, the ones I know off hand): 2. Not sure what it is made out of, but the part on my 1995 S2 has 107,500 miles on it. About 36,000 with the original oil pump and the rest with a higher flow '98 MY oil pump. 3. Yes, it has that damned goofy spring plate in the middle of the clutch pack. 4. Yes, it has the earlier style primary chain tensioner. 5. No, there was no factory accessory seat for the S2/S2-T. 6. Wider lids for the S2 bags were made as an accessory. AirTECH is making the replacement bodywork for S2's but I don't know if that includes the saddlebags, expecially considering the kit Buell made to put S3 bags on the S2/S2-T. 1313 |

I bought the peg lowering kit from the dealer. If not, the buell factory probably has a kit. |

I'll just pitch in: it has the older, weaker oil pump gear and should be examined. My 92 Sportster's was a hair from failure at 85,000 miles. Not that the engine owed me much but it would be a complete grendade if it failed and its not hard to inspect or re and re. 1313 has everything else pegged. |

Thanks for the help. I was asking for a friend who ended up buying one. I went into the clutch and took care of the tensioner and spring plate. Also updated the muffler hanger and changed out the front tire. All I can say is, you sure can tell the difference in just 4 years... this bike was a lot harder to work on than my M2. I rounded out a hex on that damn floppy front rotor bolt, it took major contortions to get the upper case bolt back through the shock plate, and by the time I hit a snag on the primary side I just about had a stroke. Factory red loctite and 10 years of rust on the side plate/left isolator mounting bolts via open holes on the backside completed the ensemble. Needless to say I am in no hurry to go into the engine after the oil pump drive gear. On the up side I've got some OE pegs coming for the bike from a Badwebber. And the bike is now doing fine. Eric that green bike of yours is about the nicest Evo Sporty I've come across. |
