Has anybody done a idler arm mod for the tubers? s i am very interested cause of my slop when throtling. my belt is adjusted to spec. i have searched but can not find anything so far. thanks (Message edited by suzie on July 31, 2006) | ||

my belt is adjusted to spec Suzie, be aware that if your belt is adjusted to factory spec, it is too tight according to most folks here. If adjusted to spec, the belt tends to be too tight when the suspension is fully compressed. Running the belt loose causes no problems; if it's too tight, you can ruin wheel bearings or worse yet transmission output shaft bearings. I believe your question has come up recently but I don't remember seeing a response. I'd be interested in something like that myself. | ||

Suzie, loosen that belt.... I run mine "silly loose"... And have yet to jump a cog, and believe me, I beat mine thuroughly, wheelies, FULL throttle acceleration, hard shifts, you name it... Yes, if adjusted to spec, its too tight.. My 2 cents Chase | ||

Is it possible that the weight of the rider may make a difference in how tight she should be running the belt? She may not be putting nearly as much load on the rear suspension as the rest of us. (not that I am inquiring about your weight, Suzie) | ||

"Is it possible that the weight of the rider may make a difference in how tight she should be running the belt?" No. If the rear suspension is adjusted to spec, it'll use most of it's range of motion the first time you encounter a dip in the road at significant speed. Why take a chance anyway? | ||

got ya... then my next question why do i have slop when i give gas... my throtlle cable is tight my symptom is delay power to the ground.. ill give gas and my revs goes up but a delay in movement. another symptom is when in first gear and i am crawling in traffic jams and i give a little throtle-backoff-throtle. she jumps like shes on hydraulics is this just how these oldies are like? i am not complaining but curious thanks (Message edited by suzie on July 31, 2006) | ||

And you don't want the primary as tight as spec. either.Keep it closer to 3/4 of an inch......Charlie | ||

Don't know how many miles on your bike. If over 20K you should thing about replacing the tensioner. The new one has a thicker spring and will likely last longer. I replace the one on my S1 this summer with just over 21K after it broke and sent pieces into the tranny. Checked the one on my S3 with 25K and the spring was cracked all the way across. Soon to fail. |
