Just thought I would post this to see what idea's might pop in. I don't want to get a ventura rack on my bike. I have a 98 M2, the model before they updated. I also don't want to carry a helmet in my back pack. I'd like to see what idea's, might be to carry a spare helmet on my bike. An open face is probably the best option, however if anyone has idea's for a full face, then see what you might come up with as an option. Maybe there is some simple bracket or thingy some people have made or to place a helmet on the bike in some place or position. I would find this very useful, as there are times I can't mount a passenger as I don't have the helmet. It would mostly be for around town, but country traveling would be a bonus too ! This will be a very interesting discussion regardless from all of us. Thanks, Dennis

My tank bag won't quite hold my large full face lids so, I either put the lid in....

First choice, a tail bag ( Chase Harper, bought on sale, works ok ) Toss in tank bag when carrying passenger. or....
#2, soft saddle bags ( Vetter, real old, works fine ) With our muffler location big rectangular bags work fine. BUT, have to be able to set bags up for passenger carry. or....
I have not tried yet, a bungee net, or a dedicated helmet bag.

It's the canoe/fox/chickens riddle, since your method must either remain in place when with passenger, or tuck away.

I also figure an open face w/flat shield is about as large as a full face, so unless your significant other/usual passenger really wants an open face ( has happened to me ) might as well give them better protection. ( Gotta give passenger bug/wind protection. They might not have goggles/gargoyles. )

Do a search for this on ebay "bungee net".
Pics are from two different listings and for reference only.
I got one of these from Big and Small Lots locally for under $5.

If the chin strap is long enough, you might be able to strap it to the passenger seat underneath.

I can do this with my little turtle shell helmet but not my real helmet.

I rely mostly on the cargo nets pictured above.

Cargo net, of the Big Box Store variety, are less than $5.00 work great, highly adjustable, multi-purpose, everybody should carry one.
