ok gentlemen i have oil getting into the carb and makes the bike look like its on fire. it looks like its coming out one of those breather hoses. well i think thats what they are.

Do you have the stock air box or an air cleaner that has the breather hoses (two of them, one from each cylinder head) run into the air cleaner? If yes, the oil in the breather hoses oiling up the air box, filter, carb, and just generally making a mess is a long standing problem on the older tuber Buells.

The solution is to get the breathers vented externally and, usually anyway, use a catch can.

There is a lot of info in the Knowledge Vault on how to do it and details of various catch can options. The catch cans are a small container that lets most of the oil be trapped to keep it off the bike and ground.

That is still being used that way and has worked good for about 4,000 miles.

That and addition of set of XB rocker covers with their nice breather vents off the top instead of on the side of the heads works well,also.Cost me about 105.00 IIRC.
