I am installing a drag Specialties tach and I Jackbequick has help me a bunch he has stated:

The stock tach has (or may have) five wires coming out of the tach housing. Only three of those are connected to anything. I think those wires that are used are as follows but I am not dead certain:

orange = light
pink = tach signal
black = ground
Does this look right???????????
My after market drag Specialties tach has 4 wires
Green- signal can go to coil
red- which is ignition on
Blue- Lamp on
Black-ground

So I should be able to put My blue and red wire together and put to Buell orange connector. #3
My Green coil wire to buell Pink-signal #7
My black to buell Black #9 connector
If someone could look this over please let me know if this looks right.

Also the correct connectors are amp miltilock socket/pin terminals...So do I need male socket connectors??? Thanks John

That looks right/sounds right. I went to the HD dealer with one of the pins and they hooked me up with what was needed. if you take your time it will hook up real easy but getting speedy cuased me to break a few connectors, can't remember which type but I think your right in being male.

Ceejay,
Thanks for helping...Hopefully I wont have to break anything to see if the HD will know what pins to sell me. I do have the owners manual so that should help. Thanks....and any more info anyone has will help.

I used a tach from an X1 on my M2, if you got the maual it is real easy, just follow the diagram and the little numbers on the black connectors. If you had some of that heat shrink stuff you could even make it look factory...The pins are the male part and the black connector which holds all the pins is female, if I remember correctly...
